Irony triumphs!

It’s a common trope — the anti-gay fanatic defending Christian values who is caught snorting coke off the backside of a gay hooker (I shouldn’t have to say this, but it’s not the last part that’s objectionable, it’s the hypocrisy in the name of hatred). Now we’ve got the crème de la crème of these kinds of incidents, at least until someone tops it, which they will.

A member of the European Parliament representing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party has resigned from his position in Brussels after he was caught leaving what reports described as a 25-man orgy on Friday.

Jozsef Szajer resigned on Sunday after he admitted to breaching Belgium’s strict lockdown rules to attend a sex party, Politico reported on Tuesday. The police found 25 naked men at the gathering, including Szajer and some diplomats, the Belgian newspaper La Dernière Heure reported. The newspaper quoted a local police source as saying, “We interrupted a gang bang.”

One last pitch-perfect note:

Szajer, a right-wing politician and ally of Orban, climbed out a first-floor window and was spotted “fleeing along the gutter,” the public prosecutor’s office said.

If that’s your thing, and everyone is consenting, go ahead and leap naked into a 25-man gay orgy. It just sounds exhausting to me, but hey, seize the day. However, you’re going to get called out for this:

Orban’s Hungarian government has curtailed LGBTQ rights since he was elected prime minister in 2010. Szajer, who fronted Fidesz in the European Parliament, helped rewrite Hungary’s constitution to “protect the institution of marriage as the union of a man and a woman,” The Times of London reported.

At least he didn’t marry the other 24 men. That would be bad.

Don’t worry, Jozsef Szajer has apologized.

“I deeply regret violating the Covid restrictions, it was irresponsible on my part. I am ready to stand for the fine that occurs.”

That’s a good point. With all the mucus and fluids flying around, that was probably a super-spreader event.

It gets me quite frustrated, really, that awful homophobes like this get to go to gay sex parties, but nobody ever invites me to one. I suppose if they’re all full of eye-wateringly hypocritical bigots then maybe I’m not missing out that badly.

Very funny and satisfying ,but it is so much better when it is an amurican conservative god botherer ,don’t know why .

It’s Belgian police at your gang bang
It’s fleeing down the gutter and still getting caught
And isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?

Where’s Alanis Morissette when you need her?

The three main sacraments of the fundie xians are hate, lies, and hypocrisy.
They claim to be pro-life but that is just a lie.
The current leading plague rats during the current Covid-19 pandemic are…fundie xians.
Who are still holding mass gatherings, insisting it is their right, and spending a lot of time in court suing the governments over their epidemic rules. Also, frequently claiming the Covid-19 virus doesn’t exist or isn’t a serious disease.

Not surprisingly, the fundies are showing higher infection and death rates than the general population.

davidc1@2 It’s more fun if you have some stake in it. E.g., Jimmy Swaggart’s fall from grace wouldn’t have been interesting if I hadn’t seen him on TV so much in the 80s.

But aren’t you in the UK? Wouldn’t you prefer a more local example than the US?

  6. davidc1 says

@6 Hi Paul ,yeah The UK ,currently led by ,can’t find the proper words to describe that twat faced git johnson ,and his shower of twat faced gits that are posing as a govt ,while they have been awarding their mates for PPE that doesn’t work ,Track and Trace Apps ,that don’t work .75,000 people have died over here .
    Sorry ,what was the question?
Oh yeah ,not many examples over here to be honest .Back in the days when the news of the world was being published ,the whole UK used to sit down on a Sunday and read about Vicars and boy scouts .
That bastard jimmy saville ,his crimes against children only came to light when he was dead .He was great mates with the Grantham witch ,the highs up at the bbc knew all about his fondness for young girls ,but they covered it up .

Then there was rolf harris and max clifford they got caught and served time

I knew if i waited long enough harris would get his comeuppance for tie me Kangaroo down sport ,and two little boys .

@raven #4, are there any sources showing that fundamentalist christians suffer more from Covid? I cannot find any.

    Good question.
There are published studies that fundie xians had a higher death rate from the last pandemic, Swine flu 2007. There were many reasons but one is that they were a lot less likely to use the available in a hurry Swine flu vaccine.

In the present case, yes and no.
Fundie xians isn’t a recognized demographic group. You can even be a fundie and not be Protestant, there are fundie Catholics, Orthodox, and Jews that are all very similar as they frequently borrow each other’s politics and culture.
Oogedy Boogedy xians or superstitious idiots are also not recognized demographic groups that researchers often collect statistics on.

What you have to do is use surrogate substitutes where the data exists.
The commonly used one is simply Red states. Or better yet, Red states in the US South. That is where most of the fundies are, after all.
You can also use groups like rural, low education whites of the midwest, appalachia, and US South sometimes.

And, what we are seeing right now, is that the pandemic is highest in…the Red states such as North and South Dakota, Idaho, Florida, the South etc.. These are the states where the GOP governments decided that masks, social distancing, and lockdowns didn’t work and were not worth doing. Which the science and experience says is just wrong.

I can’t see a link to any stories. Also please let there be video of him scurrying across the rooftops of Brussels.

  9. Jazzlet says

Szajeris of course also married, in the strict Hungarian sense. I don’t know what his wife knew about his participation in ‘gay orgies’.

  10. StonedRanger says

The guys comment about being sorry about violating the lockdown and being ready to pay the fine is smoke and mirrors so people might forget his anti gay stance and thus hold him accountable for it. Its a whole lot easier to plead guilty to the lesser offense and hope no one notices the other stuff. People need to hold his feet to the fire. The article is a good start but I have a feeling this will go about as far as any other sex scandal. Seems like cheeto boy has made lying and hypocrisy more acceptable of late for some.

For anyone who cares, here is the documentation for the observation that the more GOP a state is, the higher the death rate from Swine flu 2009 was. It was a lot like this time. The slimy leaders of the right wingnuts such as Glenn Beck, Rush Limpbrain, Donald Trump, and Alex Jones were all about how the flu virus pandemic was a hoax and the vaccine was, well something very horrible involving the Illuminati and Space Reptiles.

And oh yeah, it’s happening again with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Beware the Deadly Contagion Spread by Blowhards
Ideology is getting in the way of science.
    Nicholas Kristof March 7, 2020

As a result, attitudes about the flu soon diverged based on ideology. Democrats were 50 percent more likely than Republicans to say in surveys that they would get the swine flu vaccine.

Matthew Baum of Harvard found that people in red states were indeed less likely to get vaccinated — and more likely to die of swine flu. In the end, that swine flu outbreak wasn’t as lethal as many had feared, but it still killed or contributed to the deaths of as many as 400,000 people worldwide. In the United States, it infected 60 million people, caused 274,000 hospitalizations and killed 12,469 people, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“As states become relatively more Republican, swine flu-related deaths rise,” Baum wrote in a 2011 article in The Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law.

The implication: While right-wing blowhards may infuriate Democrats, they sometimes pose the greatest danger to their own true believers. The bombast of people like Limbaugh and Trump in this case was lethal — but only if you believed them. Doubting them conferred some immunity.
