The people with bugs in their brains are a vital segment of American culture, after all

I’m usually on the progressive side of current affairs, but I don’t know. Maybe Black Lives Matter is going too far — after all, Pat Robertson tells me so.

Robertson said he agreed with the general premise behind BLM, but “that legitimate thing has been hijacked by these radicals and they’re using that label to put forth an agenda and people need to be aware of it.”

“They’re talking about Marxist communism,” Robertson said. “They’re talking about destroying the nuclear family. They’re talking about destroying essentially Christianity as being racist. And all the way through, they want to upend the capitalist structure and destroy America.”

“People should be aware that they’re not just standing with the poor oppressed Black people,” Robertson added. “Of course we want to stand with people against police brutality. Of course we do. But we don’t want to go along with a lesbian, anti-family, anti-capitalist Marxist revolution. We don’t want that for America.”

I had no idea those poor oppressed Black people were a gang of lesbian anti-capitalist Marxists who…wait a minute. If that were true, I’d support them even more! Although it’s not true. Most of the people participating in BLM protests are heterosexuals with families who would be happy if the structure of American society gave them justice and security. At its core, this is not a radical movement unless you think treating black people with dignity and respect and equality is radical — which is probably Robertson’s position anyway.

I think we need a second opinion here, so let’s ask Michele Bachmann? Wait, what year is this? Why does anyone give a flying fuck what Robertson and Bachmann think?

Oh, right, because they are entertainingly bugnuts, as long as you’re not one of the people they hate.

“Antifa is, if you go to their website, their materials, they are directly traceable to the Communist Party because their goal is the overthrow of the United States government and to bring communism into America,” Bachmann said. “Just like Black Lives Matter, this is not a new movement either. On their website, these are transgender Marxists, transgender Black Marxists who are seeking the overthrow the United States and the dissolution of the traditional family.”

“What people need to understand is that 103 years ago, there were no communist countries in this world,” she said. “But this same idea where you have a pretext, you create something—like right now the pretext in America is race wars, that we’re seeing race wars on America’s streets—what this is is a cover to bring about communism and a communist takeover. It happened in communist China. It happened in Venezuela, many countries. What people need to understand, the viewers, is that we currently right now are in a situation where communists are trying to come in and take over America.”

“You say, ‘Aren’t you a little overheated? Isn’t this melodramatic?’” [OMG, Bachmann read my mind! At least, the restrained, polite part of my mind. If she’d gone deeper, she would have used stronger words] Bachmann continued. “This is exactly what a communist revolution looks like. They think they’re going to do it by electing Joe Biden and then once Joe Biden is elected, they think that these Davos, Switzerland, meetings that go on, they think that what they’re going to do is have the United States’ economy collapse, move to a digital currency globally, and then we move into a global-type government. I mean, it’s bizarre, but this is their goal.”

“For people who know their Bible, this is exactly what the prophets told us,” she added. “So, we stand on the word of God, the Bible, and we say, ‘Satan, flee, we’re going to stand on the truth of God.’ And so that’s why now more than ever, between now and the election, what we need to do is pray and cry out to Almighty God and ask for his protection over America and to speak in this election.”

Jeez, but the Cold War really wrecked people psychologically. It’s not the 1950s anymore, the Commies are not and never were hiding under your bed, and it is not anti-American to be smart enough to realize that capitalism is broken and needs, at the very least, a major overhaul. Biden is a political centrist beholden to all the moneyed lobbyists, not a transgender lesbian Black Marxist. You are not a little overheated, Michele. You and Pat Robertson are malignant freaks with bugs in your brain that you call “god” and a terrifying authoritarian streak.

So many dogwhistles. My Brittany, Duke, is barking his head off as I read this.

I suppose all their screeching about BLM being opposed to “traditional families” is subtle dig on single black mothers. In their tiny Christian minds, a REAL civil rights movement would be foisting heterosexual monogamy and patriarchy upon the poor, benighted, “negro.” They are such children, after all.

I’m curious. Which of the prophets discussed Communism, the collapse of the U.S. economy, digital currency, and a “global-type government”? I’d be very interested to read those particular books of the Bible.

No communist countries 103 years ago? I think this communism-disguised-as-civil-rights-agenda already got out of hand in USA in the 1860s when much of the property of Southern planters was forcibly socialized and distributed to poor people whose bodies had constituted said property.

(More seriously, if only she knew the level of economic collectivism and social control in various indigenous societies)

Oh, I forgot he was still alive. I guess I was thinking of Jerry Falwell, Sr.

They’re talking about destroying essentially Christianity as being racist.

I am in favor of destroying white evangelical Christianity as being racist, or in any case representing a subculture full of racists. “Christianity” is such a broad category as to be meaningless, but I think I know what Robertson means by the term, and destroying it would be a good start.

On the other hand, my views do not represent those of the BLM movement, which includes many Black religious believers.

Most of this is sheer batshit lunacy, but what do you expect? I still remember his reference to 9/11 as the “antechamber to terror”. How’s that working out? Things have indeed gone to crap, but I would lay most of the blame on our so-called leaders, not foreign “terrorists.”

Antifa website? If I go to antifa.com I get a redirect to the Biden campaign. .net and .org don’t work. It’s unclear who set up the redirect, but pretty clearly it was not “antifa” which is not an organization or the Biden campaign. So what the hell is Bachmann even referring to?

Just once, I’d like to see a Democratic candidate who’s actually the uber-progressive that conservatives portray all Democrats as being.

So what the hell is Bachmann even referring to?

Tom and Cecil from the Cognitive Dissonance podcast covered Bachman’s tirade on their weekly livestream last night. They wondered the exact same thing.

We can’t assume they really believe in anything other than the almighty dollar -the collection of which is where they spend most of their time. Alleluia!

benedic@9 I don’t believe everything or even most things come down to money, and I get into this argument a lot with a few classic leftwing relatives. For one thing, there are other ways to make money that do not require the same degree of dishonesty and/or self-abasement. People are clearly motivated by greed, but there are so many other factors.

Some religious people are actually driven by “faith” whatever they imagine that to be. In Robertson’s case, I think it’s a pure control thing. He wants a society in which people like him get to tell everyone else what to do. I don’t know his net worth, but you couldn’t pay him twice as much just to shut up and leave the rest of us alone. If it were as simple as money, a lot of problems would be easily solved.

As a lesbian Black Pure-Caucasian man, I always get my Marxist communist instructions from the bankers and Finance Ministers who meet at the Davos resort every year, in the traditional Swiss smash-the-state manner that all western governments always promote. Revolution now; which network is it on?

It would be helpful if any of these wingnuts with microphones (or the misguided attention of the media) ever read any history. Our country is a dynamic and ever changing country. One need only look at the late 1800’s and the rise of corporate capitalism and the damage it inflicted on US society. It was so bad that it gave rise to American Progressiveism that brought us the “Trust-busters”, workplace reform, the right of women to vote and guys like Theodore Roosevelt (a Republican) who fought many of these fights. Anyone who claims to have the right to insist that America remain static, or go back to some imagined golden period, simply hasn’t been paying attention. That’s not how we roll. We make slow but real progress over time while careening between costly mistakes. It’s not a surprise, we are human after all, and moving ahead means helping people who need help and fighting the people with all the power and wealth.

‘Antifa’ website cited in conservative media attack on Biden is linked to — wait for it — Russia (August 2020):

Records for “antifa.com” in the domain name database Whoisology.com show the site was registered in the Russian Federation from 2013 through last July. Starting last November, the site’s registration was moved to Panama, The website has always been anonymously registered and its owners could not be reached for comment.

Actually, the “registration” in Panama is part of a domain privacy protection scheme / scam, this one operated by WhoIsGuard: “When protection is turned on (can be turned off easily) our email and address shows up. When some one sends an email to your uniquely generated xyz.protect@whoisguard.com address, we will in-turn forward it your real email address which you specify. […]”

I can neither confirm nor deny the claim about Whoislogy, as that site seems to require “membership” (a fee?) to access historical data. However, what can be easily verified by public sources broadly matches: The antifa.com domain name has existed since 2002, but has been “registered” in Panama only since late 2019. (Multiple fairly reliable sites state Biden’s campaign has nothing to do with it.)

Marxist communism now! Wow, someone take me back to the good old days when it was Pokemon, D&D and The Gays that were destroying the world. Ahhh… the good old days! Now it’s just so complicated! I have to take

@ Alt-X: They were converted into ICE death camps.

Why is Robertson so terrified of lesbians? Not that he shouldn’t be, but usually the Talibangelists are focused on gay men and forget lesbians even exist. But Robertson brings them up all the time.

  16. PaulBC says

Ridana@17 He wants more white babies. (I mean I suppose there could be other stuff going on but that would be my first thought.)

It’s mostly in the Book of Farage. In case your biblical knowledge is a little rusty, that’s between the Book of Orban and the Book of Qanon.

@blf, interestingly, the site is hosted in Atlanta, Georgia. I wonder how often that the Russians forget to bring their VPN up when connecting to their sites? In 2016, it wasn’t an uncommon event, allowing their shenanigans to be traced all the way back to their office. Dutch intelligence even watched the DNC hack go down live, while also tapping into the building’s security camera system and getting imagery of who worked in those offices at the GRU.
The Dutch intelligence team was kind enough to let the US embassy know what was going on and invited our intelligence folks to observe the shenanigans firsthand.
All of the details were assembled by the teams at Crowdstrike, whose products I’ve actually used to trace attacks against our networks. It wasn’t an unusual event to actually have the FBI knocking on the door to discuss suspicious activity on our network, courtesy of one specific APT. We eventually traced the entry point to a forgotten development webserver in Canada, which hadn’t been patched since the second day of the universe, well, close to that era, anyway.
I did get copies from the packet captures that the FBI was thrilled to receive, given that those were the most up to date tools being used by that APT group. Of course, once the IPS was given the hash value and those tools ceased to work, they just added some padding in and recompiled the PXE… Never could convince that company to use application whitelisting on their servers, nor could I convince them to get some behavioral based IPS capabilities.

wzrd1@21, “Never could convince that company to use application whitelisting on their servers, nor could I convince them to get some behavioral based IPS capabilities.”

Good grief. The essentially one time I had to put a service on the wild ‘Net, equivalents of both those measures (and several others) were presumed, essentially required, by the local IT staff and management. (Corporate IT & finance were a different story, but local IT and management kept both those clowns at bay, helped by the fact that when they tried to replicate the service with an expensive design of their own, they utterly failed (both technologically and administratively)). I did have the advantage of working with a “secure” products team, and having a well-defined limited problem and robust service / server, plus being physically on-site.
