As an aside, Walmart is mandating masks everywhere as far as I know. So naturally I see customers there wearing masks pulled down below the nose, covering the mouth only. Then there are the ones who apparently can’t speak without uncovering their mouths.

I have unhappily realized, in the past ten years, that there is a distinct subset of humanity that, when given the opportunity to be truly shitty human beings, run towards that particular goal, with a great display of pride and happiness. Prior to ten years ago, I thought most of humanity was trying to be better, or at least had that as a goal.

I’ve noticed the wear-below-nose folks around. Did see one guy on my last grocery shopping trip that was wearing his mask to cover his nose…but it didn’t extend below his upper lip…
Reminds me of the small Eastern Oregon town I grew up in. The level of casual racism that we allowed when I was a kid is massively out of order now, but it was normal there and then. We CAN NOT allow this level of casual racism to continue. These people are toxic and need to be shut down. Hit them where it hurts. If you know them, then shun them. I was raised Catholic and shunning is a perfectly effective weapon for people like this.
They can be denied entry to any establishment or store for wearing that because it is a hate symbol. If anything you are or are not wearing causes danger to the staff, then you can be denied entry. Wearing a fucking swastika into any place I go would definitely constitute a danger because I would beat the shit out of them and probably end up in jail. It’s OK. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Weeks ago, the cashier at the Big 5 had a mask that said “My Governor Is An Idiot” on it, with a zia over the O so there’s no mistaking which governor it is. What did she do to earn folks’ ire? Oh, only keep the state locked down and infection rates relatively low despite us being wedged uncomfortably between Arizona and Texas. The sooner I can get out of this shithole (Carlsbad), the better.

If that were true, that I would actually jump to late-1930s Germany by voting for Biden, it would be the first positive reason to vote for him that I’ve ever heard — think of all the things you could fix by being able to jump 90 years into the past, with advance warning of when it would happen so you could prepare yourself for the trip. Fixing climate change would, all by itself, justify the trip.

Got it when I found that I had a flat and missing valve. Came back with the tool and replacement valve pack to find my valve sitting on the ground next to the tire.
Took me ten minutes to reinstall the valve, I was laughing so hard over my standing on the damned thing when I was getting the tire ready for my inflation pump and noticed the missing valve.
@stroppy #7, yeah, I see that a fair bit. Some appear to be simply ignorant as to how masks work and why they’re worn a certain way. I’ve also been kind enough to remind people, “A mask covers the nose and mouth, otherwise you’re not wearing it, you’re carrying it with your face and that’s just downright silly”.
When I’m outside and people aren’t nearby, I don’t wear the mask, still recovering from that pneumonia and partially collapsed lung mess and am still anemic for some reason, so walking a couple of miles with a mask is a lot of a chore. Once I approach a store, I mask up before I get 30 feet or so from the door. And I wear it properly.
I saw yet a new variant (to me) on wearing a mask improperly yesterday: Typically (or so it seems to me), when people don’t cover their nose and mouth but still have a mask “on”, the mask is either below the chin or dangling from one ear. But the young lady I saw yesterday (and also had social distancing issues (lack of) with) was covering only her chin. This was inside a shop (an enclosed public space) here in France, where wearing masks in such situations is now (finally!) mandatory.
