Comma comma comma conspiracy, You come and go, you come and go

I wish he would go. About 5 or 6 years ago, this wackaloon named Terry Dean, Nemmers decided I was part of a conspiracy and started dunning me, the university, random county officials, etc. with demands that I submit to him the proof that I was a perfidious scofflaw, which I’m not, making it rather difficult to hand him the evidence he wanted, since it doesn’t exist. I nick-named him Comma because of his weird punctuation, which is apparently some sovereign citizen gimmick to make him immune to legal action. I could have named him Question Mark because of his affectation of arranging all of his sentences to turn them into questions.

Anyway, he hasn’t gone away. He still cc’s me all of these demands. Conspiracy nuts just can’t let it go.

The latest incoherent screed is below the fold, just in case you wanted to marvel at his persistence. I’ve removed addresses and phone numbers — he loves to dump all that kind of information into his complaints.

Jeffrey T. Perry, Esq. :

Why oh why did you send me a virus filled .vbs file in a zip file? The zip file was to prevent the email software from flagging your virus filled .vbs file, right? Did you know that Gmail placed a security alert on the .vbs file that you tried to infect my computer with? Still waiting for the justification for your fraudulent bill, aren’t I? And make sure you include the explanation why the digital audio file of PZ Myers was placed on a cassette tape, okay? Sure sounds like means, motive and opportunity to send a virus to me, right? Maybe I should just contact local law enforcement about your attempted criminal damage to property?

It is both funny and sad that he is still quoting his own tweets from 4 or 5 years ago, and he includes the pointless detail that they have “0 retweets 0 likes”.

  1. blf says

They appeared to have spelled PZ’s surname correctly, which might put them one infinitesimal notch above teh cretinists and other wack-a-loons.

  2. Artor says

Cervantes, being a ginormous arsewhole is not listed in the DSM5. Please knock off the amateur diagnoses.

  3. Peter B says

It’s been my experience that Google blocks .zip files. I zipped and emailed microcontroller source files. The .zip was not deleted; the entire email did not arrive. I had to use another email address my client had.

  4. DanDare says

There is something wrong with that guy. Obsession, paranoia, innability to discern truth from fantasy. I seem to remember there was an appropriate bounce back from authorities that were being pestered.
I note the sovereign citizen thing has reared its ugly head over wearing face masks.

  5. blf says

I note the sovereign citizen thing has reared its ugly head over wearing face masks.

So has the yellow star thing… (crossposted from poopyhead’s current [Pandemic and] Political Madness all the Time thread…)

Scott Lively Would Rather Be Beheaded Than Forced by the Government to Wear a Mask:

[… A]nti-LGBTQ activist Scott Lively posted a video on YouTube Saturday in which he argued that requiring people to wear masks to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus is akin to the Nazis forcing Jewish people to wear yellow stars on their clothing and declared that he’d rather be beheaded than to be forced to wear one by the government.

    […]

Welcome to the Green Mask Cult[] (not a band, as far as I know)! Please form a line to enter the hand sanitiseatron and holiest of holies, the vaccineamatic.

So if masks are mandated in this loon’s area, there will be one less loon (supposedly). Sounds like a win-win — fewer infections and fewer loons!

† It must be Green because, ah, well, another loon claimed the reason the Greens did so well in the recent elections here in France is because green is the colour of Islam.

  6. bcwebb says

I’m in awe of Nemmers skills. When I’ve tried to write like a nut, I am hampered by unconscious self-consistency and logical sequencing. I am impressed by Nemmers ability to write nut-material effortlessly and seamlessly. No clumsy non sequiturs but fluid text stripped clean of enchaining logic or thread of reason.

  7. nomuse says

    bcwebb —
A friend of mine runs a Call of Cthulhu campaign. Among the various hand-outs he makes up for the players — newspaper articles, property records, train timetables, are — surprise! — the rambling accounts of people driven mad, mad I tell you, by what they have seen.
He tells me those give him more trouble than anything. Being convincingly but purposefully mad is hard, it seems, to fake.

  8. John Wilkins says

I agree with cervantes. This fellow clearly has a mental issue, or more than one.

  9. John Morales says

John Wilkins, sure, that’s someone who evinces mental mania.

But that’s not the entirety of cervantes’ claim, is it?

He advocates for sympathy on that basis.

So, is lack of sympathy for mental issues itself a mental issue? Because, if so, that too perforce deserves sympathy.

  10. jessem says

When I look at the rant I see a sad lonely man desperate for attention. That’s my intuition, it doesn’t need to be correct. I can have some sympathy, also for PZ being harrassed. No need to drag mental illness into it to have sympathy though. And @chigau, I personally don’t think having a mental illness or not (or which one) can so easily be treated as a dichotomy. That only works in the legal sense.

  11. says

…huh. There’s a semi-famous Internet Loon named Don Saklad, and it just dawned on me that his distinctive odd phrasing and assertive demands on the time of others might possibly be a sign of Soverign Citizen-type weirdness. (It’s been years since I saw his stuff, but as I recall he puts everything in third person in an extremely roundabout fashion, and doesn’t want anyone to help him unless they very specifically give him the extremely time-consuming and unusual byproduct he wants instead of what most people would want. Instead of saying “I want an ice cream cone” he would write a paragraph along the lines of “Members of the public often want dairy confections, including ice cream cones. How does a concerned citizen obtain an ice cream cone when one is desired? Please forward a photo and reviews from at least 4 food critics of every ice cream cone from every shop in the greater Boston area.”) (He was famous for having a fixation on the Boston Public Library.)

  12. says

This individual is obviously psychotic. And yes, you should have sympathy for people with mental illness, however difficult that may be.

  13. says

As is my usual habit I’ll need the people referring to mental illness to cite:
    1) the specific diagnosis
    2) the relevant diagnostic criteria
    3) the concrete examples of the diagnostic criteria
If you can’t do this you are using the mentally ill as your political tool and you should stop being incompetents and learn to communicate about what you have negative feelings about.

  14. wzrd1 says

@blf #9, well, Islam does consider green a “holy” color, or at least venerates it, but that’s only by tradition and apparently, associated heaven.
Makes sense, given that the Arabian desert is just tan, as far as the eye can see.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_in_Islam

Oh, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania just issued an order from the governor’s office that masks are required when going outside. Gonna have to bring spares in the summer heat, lest perspiration render the one I am wearing unservicable. :/
That said, a local fuel/convenience store has customers in and all all day and evening, 2/3 being not wearing a mask. :(

A Texan bar owner doesn’t want to close down, claiming rights that don’t exist and that the state government isn’t supposed to look after the health of the citizenry. Apparently, she’s unacquainted with the US Constitution’s Article 1, Section 8’s mandate to ensure welfare of the nation and by definition, the nation is its people.
