I can definitely recommend Spiders of the North Woods. The whole series of the North Woods field guides are excellent.

To contextualise it all, could you share what the objectives of your research programme are, or is at all just general exploration at this stage?

Hey spider lovers. Just a quick question. I snapped the following photo whilst in the Ecuadorian Amazon in 2005, and it’s been bothering me ever since. I’m pretty sure it is a spider in the Micrathena genus (which appears to be a type of orb-weaver), but which species it is has defied all my google-fu. Any idea what creature has been haunting my nightmares for the past 15 years? My closest guess is Micrathena pichincha, but it’s not a perfect match in morphology.
