That’s a beautifully done cover. The bottom-right spider looks 3 dimensional – cool!

Definitely a book where you want the hardcover edition, not the electronic version. Enjoy it PZ.

Sunday Afternoon — that’s because it is. The other spiders are just photographs, but the book comes with an actual live tarantula as well. It’s one of the main selling points!

“Look inside” at Amazon. The graphics, layout, photos all look great and well thought out.

Stroppy is right. The “Look Inside” option lets you see the entire book online, and the photos are spectacular!

Fold out centerfold with mega palps? Hey baby, do those legs go all the way down?

I can definitely recommend Spiders of the North Woods. The whole series of the North Woods field guides are excellent.

Perfect for squishing the odd house spider .

Pz as a fellow, but lapsed biologist ( I got sucked into the world of IT) I love your spider stuff.

To contextualise it all, could you share what the objectives of your research programme are, or is at all just general exploration at this stage?

Hey spider lovers. Just a quick question. I snapped the following photo whilst in the Ecuadorian Amazon in 2005, and it’s been bothering me ever since. I’m pretty sure it is a spider in the Micrathena genus (which appears to be a type of orb-weaver), but which species it is has defied all my google-fu. Any idea what creature has been haunting my nightmares for the past 15 years? My closest guess is Micrathena pichincha, but it’s not a perfect match in morphology.
