What I’m reading here sounds an awful lot like an apology. Not an “apology” but a real one:

The younger generations . . . are improving the workplace, we’re talking here about better standards than we grew up with, fair standards. A lot of it has to do with how we talk to each other, compliments on a woman’s appearance that some men — including me — might have once incorrectly thought were okay were never okay. Not then and certainly not today, and for making such comments in the past, I’m sorry.

I didn’t know they made those anymore.

@numerobis: it’s kind of a straw apology, pretending that repeatedly making sexist comments is just ‘compliments on women’s appearance’.

“The fact that MSNBC kept him on for another 3.5-4 years is a fucking abomination.”

I wish I was surprised. They kept Don Imus on the air for years.

specialffrog: agreed that he’s downplaying the content of his comments, but I’m so used to notpoligies: “product of my time” and “sorry you were offended” with a side of persecution complex.

Here he’s instead clearly stating his comments should never have been accepted, and that changing standards are a good thing.

Now, the real test is whether he sticks to his retirement or whether in 6 months he starts begging for his job back.

The man has been offensive for ever. Chuck Todd seems to have learned all the lessons, though. Will it take them just as long to get rid of Chuckie. I can take Scarborough. He is an ex-GOP congressman so we all know here he stands. Chuckie and Tweety present themselves as independent presenters of facts when in reality they are just right wing hacks, who seem to think their jobs were to keep the Rethuglicans from looking too bad.

I agree about the apology. This was the first real sounding apology I have seen in a long time from one of these media trolls. Maybe it is sincere.
