Sonic and Star Trek

Well, I was so fried yesterday that I went to see this new Sonic Hedgehog movie. Boy, was I disappointed. There was absolutely nothing about cell signaling, or the patched receptor, or midline development. It was all about the adventures of Baby Karl Urban and some electrically charged blue mammal battling a guy with five Ph.D.s, which made no sense at all. Why would you have five degrees? And none of them were in developmental biology or molecular genetics. He seemed to be some kind of robotics expert, although being a perpetual student who can’t land a credible job are not credible qualifications for much of anything.

You’re better off watching this balanced summary of Star Trek history from Mikey Neuman. I learned a few things, although this, too, is seriously lacking in the departments of developmental biology and molecular genetics.

Is my brain still fried? Yes, but it’s OK. I’m about to go lock myself in a coffee shop and grade first-year biology exams. After that, I’ll probably need to go drink.

I’ll pass. Did watch Ford vs Ferrari on DVD recently. Great to watch can-do Yanks sticking it to Italian finesse. Shane from The Walking Dead played Iacocca which is weird given Shelby would later develop a car for Chrysler (Omni GLHS).

Damon and Bale were both good despite funny accents.

Well that does seem excessive but if you–yourself–had two you, I believe you could be addressed as Herr Doktor Doktor Professor in Germany.

My wife and I talked about going to see a movie this afternoon, as we hadn’t been in some months. Then we looked over the current offerings at our local theater and reconsidered … The one tempting option was The Call of the Wild, but I can’t remember the last time I saw a really good book not get butchered somewhere in the process of getting onto the screen. Um, maybe 1989’s The Princess Bride?

Jack London was an interesting fellow— atheist, socialist, and…wait for it…uh oh:

“London supported eugenics,[7] including forced sterilization of criminals or those deemed feeble minded.[86] His novel Before Adam(1906–07) has been described as having pro-eugenic themes.[8]

London wrote to Frederick H. Robinson of the periodical Medical Review of Reviews, stating, “I believe the future belongs to eugenics, and will be determined by the practice of eugenics.”[87]

Probably one of the best movies to be based off of a video game, which isn’t saying much really. Especially when you compare it to past efforts such as Street Fighter, Double Dragon, Super Mario Bros., Mortal Kombat 2, and the abundance of crap churned out by Uwe Boll. Not one of the best pop culture movie releases for this season, but I don’t regret seeing it.

Oh yeah….dont go to see Sonic if you werent a fan of the games or dont have a child to accompany you.
I fit the former category and my friends and I LOVED it! Proper belly laughs at stupid humour all the way through. Jim Carrey at his Ace Ventura best(or worst depending on your views on Carrey).

Best videogame movie but also a decent kids movie!
Also, I assume they are 5 Gorka style PhDs
