I’ve been embracing it for the last few years, cosplaying as older super-heroes.

My go-to costume is Jay Garrick, the Golden Age Flash: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_(Jay_Garrick)

    This year, I’m Peter B. Parker, the beaten-down, middle-aged alternate universe Spider-Man from Into the Spider-Verse. https://intothespiderverse.fandom.com/wiki/Peter_B._Parker

These let me leverage my gray hair (Garrick) and dad-bod (Parker) as an accurate part of the costume.

It’s a lot less scary for children, to whom the ravages of age are a distant and easily ignored myth, than it is for people in their mid 30s (like me) who are pretending they’re still in their late 20s and trying everything to stave off the beginnings of the slow, relentless decline into rot, desolation and hideousness.
