    Nice.

Every time I see a jacked-up pickup with Rump, MAGA, and pro-gun stickers (the latter of which always seems to feature Kalashnikovs, for some reason), I always want to slap an Elizabeth Warren sticker on it.

A national fad in the making!
Which reminds me of a time in Providence, I think it was, in about 1978. Somebody had broken the great big picture window at the MacDonald’s. The police showed up and found a brick had been heaved though the window with a note attached: “You deserve a brick today.” HAR HAR HAR HAR.
Kids, if you don’t get this one, look up some old McD ads.

And my personal boycott of this franchise is now up to 42 years and counting.

Those aren’t Kalashnikov’s on those bumper stickers, but rather AR-15s. One of the several differences between an AR-15 (developed by Arma-Lite in 1959, sold to Colt in 1963) and an AK- 47 (the Russian designed Avtomat-Kolashnikov) is that the latter can be switched between semi-automatic, burst mode and fully automatic weapon (ownership without a special permit is illegal in the US), whereas the former is available to the public only as a semi-auto. Another is that the AK-47 uses a 7.62 mm (.30 caliber) bullet, where the AR-15 comes in a variety of sizes.

What makes the AR-15 popular in the US is it’s modular design, allowing for numerous variations in size and shape, accuracy, high capacity clips, and, most importantly, although ignored by the NRA publicly, the fact that it looks military, making it a handy penis substitute for men with self esteem issues or who never actually served in the military. Ownership tends to go hand in hand with owning a pickup truck (Ford F-250 or bigger, despite not actually needing a truck for any other purpose) an NRA bumper sticker and a MAGA hat; although, sometimes actual ownership of said gun isn’t actually necessary to compensate for above mentioned feelings of inadequacy, but the other three items are essential.

You know, I don’t give a flying fuck about the differences between an AK47 and an AR15, and people who do give me the creeps.

There are many legitimate reasons for knowing the difference between these weapons. The history of man is the history of war, and these are two very prominent military arms. But I don’t see the relevance in this case. Besides, civilian AK-based models are surprisingly popular in the redneck army and are featured on a myriad of bumper stickers.

Jonathan Norburg @4: I know the difference between an AR-15 and a Kalashnikov. Their profiles are quite different. Many gun fondlers like using Kalashnikov pictures as decoration for their trucks, often right next to their Murica flag.
