The mildly deranged penguin maintains it was a penguin in a compression vortex. I’m not sure if she means the alleged “spider”, alleged “fly”, or alleged “ear”.

No way! Not gonna let spiders nest in my ears even if it does stop the mosquitos from buzzing.

    Pish-posh.
I do not mind spiders. I have plenty of spiders in my house and garden. They do catch pest insects, like flies, wasps and similar. But it is a stochastic process, with no guarantees.
So the best thing against flying insects bothering you is a window net.

I have my cats take care of the flies. My spiders take care of fruit flies mostly. The mosquitoes? That’s my job.

Sadly, the spiders have to stay near the ceiling. Anything small that reaches the floor is prey for my cat, who can’t distinguish between helpful predators and pests.
