39

It’s our wedding anniversary today! It’s a little strange, because we started dating when we were 19, and got married at 23, so most of our lives have been spent together. We’re still happy together so it’s not going to change until the day I die.

We don’t have anything fancy planned. I brought her coffee in bed (but I do that every day! Should I have refused, in order to make it special?) and also…avocado toast. I went all out here. Maybe dinner and a movie tonight. I hope that isn’t too crazy.

    You Wild Man, you!
    Actually that sounds quietly lovely.
    Congratulations on your Anniversary.

Have a good one! It’s nice to learn from the wisdom of my elders, and sort of look into the future to see what I have to look forward to in seven months.

Maybe you should get divorced, to make it even more special.

Actually, maybe you get divorced, and then remarry. Demonstrate the evidence for “I would do it all over again”, empirically; maybe 5 times so that it would be statistically significant.

Remarrying the same woman after a divorce can also piss off God! See Deuteronomy 24:4.

She looks remarkably happy in the picture; you look worried. It’s OK, kid, it’ll work out. Hope she still thinks so too! Much more happiness to you both.

There is not much agreement on-line about the appropriate gift for the 39th but if you start saving now you could have enough money for the 40th anniversary ruby.

Congratulations! I’d say you’re definitely over the hump, PZ. We’re coming up on #58, and believe me, it just gets better every year, provided you can remain BFF.

Avocado toast, in the middle of Winter! You crazy, extravagant man. Next year, add some smoked salmon.
    Congratulations to you both.

Congratulations! That is just wonderful, I’m happy for both of you. Especially since she’s actually helping you hunt spiders. So important to have support in one’s hobbies.

    Good job on communicating!
We’re chasing you at year 37.
May we never exceed each other.

I can’t conceive of a life without her input.

Warm and Happy Regards to the two of you!
Nice to know that some promises do last.
May you always be each others best friends.

BTW, I miss Mary’s Monday Metazoans.
Any chance you could give her a gentle nudge?
(Or was that you all along, PZ?)

Strange, isn’t it … I personally know a BUNCH of divorced (sometimes twice!) fundies/evangelicals, some with VERY dysfunctional families, but a LOT of happily married for many years atheists. Almost seems as if being born-again doesn’t guarantee a happy family life lol

Sweet Jeebus, Dr. Myers!! Talk about a couple validating the claim that hot babes marry dorks!
