See, journalists, that’s an example of objective but not neutral reporting. Learn the difference.

I must say, that your president asshole behaves entirely consistently with how american managers are used to behave – things go well? Skim money for yourself! Things start to go badly because mone is skimmed? Cut corners! Problems accumulate because staff is overloaded and cannot manage to do things properly? Fire people!!

    That’s the american way.

There is already an investigation underway that PG&E was working incidents in the area where the Camp Fire started. According to CalFire, PG&E negligence caused 12 of last years fires. And of course, PG&E negligence resulted in the San Bruno pipeline explosion in 2010. President Asshole would never level his rhetoric at a corporation with a monopolistic hold on a lucrative business deal with the state. It’s not clear that California politicians, many of them Democrats, will do anything about it either. As I heard Sen. Gillibrand say recently, we’ve got to get the money out of politics.

The asshole couldn’t be bothered to visit an American cemetery an hour’s drive from Paris because it was raining.

Scroll down a bit more than halfway and witness the hurricane-like conditions he would have had to challenge:

Meanwhile, Macron delivers a commemoration speech in a downpour without even an umbrella.

Surprisingly, one of the most biting commentaries I’ve found so far (among many) is from a conservative:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/global-opinions/trump-shows-his-contempt-for-the-men-and-women-in-uniform/2018/11/10/1f8f2632-e524-11e8-8f5f-a55347f48762_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.dd1629bdb430

All his terrible policies and actions aside, the embarrassment he brings our country is more than grounds enough to remove him from office. The man would be fired from a frozen pizza or hemorrhoid cream ad campaign, but we’re stuck with him representing the whole goddamn U.S. of A?

  5. says

I wish the press would be more openly contemptuous of him to his face.
Someone needs to say (at the WH press briefing) “you don’t get to call people ‘rude’ mister president. you’re a complete douchebag yourself. show courtesy if you want to get courtesy.”

He has excellent hair. You can be pretty sure Trump’s fear of rain is that he dreads the photo-op if his carefully assembled coiffure melts and runs all over the place. He can’t possibly give a shit about anything else; this is Donald Trump we’re talking about.

[If Trump wanted to really be scary and manly he’d go full Lex Luthor or Mussolini. But he’s an insecure chickenshit. With nuclear weapons.]

FYI, the significant other just offered the same explanation. Great minds, what.

Possibly, but President Asshole is 72 years old and his physical condition obviously not great. As a septuagenarian, I wouldn’t relish spending much time in a cold downpour.

Post presidency, I think the most lucrative tell-all book deal may well be with his hairstylist. I wonder whether it’ll be a pop-up or one of those fuzzy /texture books.

In wicked witches it’s not just the hair that melts…

    A) Relish or no relish. Mustard, onions, sauerkraut doesn’t make a hill of (chili) beans. I think most would consider it a responsibility of their President, an expectation at the very least. Its the centenary of the armistice FFS, not just another pseudo-patriotic photo op. This won’t get too much play here in the states, but his actions and attitude this weekend are speaking volumes in Europe.

    B) He sent spry young 68 yr old John Kelly in his place.

    C) Look at the picture in my post above. What downpour? Marine One could have flown. The Beast and its motorcade could have made it in an hour. He just couldn’t be arsed, plain and simple.

  11. wzrd1 says

Remember, he didn’t respect those who were POW’s, they were losers. Who loses more than those who lost their lives fighting far from home?
Well, at least he is good at one thing. Being a professional asshole.

In other news, when it isn’t cloudy, the sky is blue.

    Ragutis:

Max Root, is not a conservative in the current sense. He is the kind of conservative that, if they had been more common, would have prevented the rotting of the Republican Party over the last 40 years. I still disagree with many of his views (he’s way too pro-military imho, which is not too unusual for a military historian, but even then he’s not into the Trump/Mussolini/Putin military-for-displays-of-personal-masculinity schtick). At least he’s thoughtful and willing to recognise the existence of privilege, and he’s publicly pro-abortion rights, pro-immigration, and vehemently anti-Trump. That is, while he identifies as conservative, the modern American conservative movement would not identify with him. Probably why he writes for WaPo rather than, say, NYT.

How dare you say such a thing! Mr Trump is Leader of the Free World. 63 million people voted for him.

ahhh, finally got it, why he kept repeating the “witch hunt” denigration of the investigation into his collusion with Russia. He was hinting at his true nature.
    I thought we were exaggerating
    :-)

  15. DanDare says

    I
Think the content of Macron’s speech was also something of a rebuke, although he was talking about France. He obviously strongly disagrees with nationalism.

  16. methuseus says

    @DanDare:
Oh it was obviously a rebuke. Not just of Trump and the alt-right neocons, but Austria and the politicians in his own country (Le Pen) and other countries (Alternative für Deutschland) that fit the nationalism angle. But, yes, Trump was a big reason for him to make that sort of speech. The world is pulling away from the USA as a leader, which is a good thing and they probably should have done it sooner. Even under Obama, the USA was not as collaborative with the world as the EU is, and that seems to be how best to deal with the world’s governance in the future. To be clear, collaboration, not the EU’s system specifically. The EU has its faults, as well, of course.

  17. says

I must strongly object to describing our President as an Asshole (and not just because it ought to be ‘Arsehole’).
The Arse (or Ass) hole performs a vital role in keeping us from blowing up: this is not true of the President.
In Nature it forms an essential part of keeping an environment healthy by recycling nutrients: this is not true of the President.
Some creatures have one near or even in their mouths: this is not…. Oh! Damn!!
    As you were…

  18. Matrim says

Speak of the president and assholes…

While I don’t specifically wish harm on someone, I did accidentally write a parody song that would be perfect if Trump ever suffered a violent anal prolapse…so, while I don’t necessarily hope it happens, it would be a shame to waste the song…

  19. willj says

It’s an appropriate appellation. I once tried to say it in a more erudite and sophisticated way, but too many rich shades of meaning were lost.
