Just as a matter of personal safety you might want to steer clear of hard liquor, especially mass quantities. Remove it from the house before tomorrow. Or lock it up and mail the key to yourself. Beer should be fine. Hopefully for celebration.

There’s just no way Voldemort could become Senator alongside Rubio, right? No liquor accessible in my house.

Seconding Jadehawk. Unfortunately, the way things go when USA sneezes, the whole world catches cold. And oh boy does it sneeze these last two years.

We need another world wide ecomomic crisis like we need additional hole to the head.

I saw a bottle of Everclear at the liquor store while picking up my own pain medication.
    I was… tempted.

I use Everclear to distill cannabinoids for personal use. Nothing more. Ethanol consumption, even skillfully diluted with mixer, has some unpleasant and more dangerous consequences/effects.

I decided in late November 2016 that it was not a sustainable path to put my liver up against the Trump administration’s bullshit. We know you’re kidding, but it’s not actually all that funny.

” need to stop by the liquor store before Tuesday. Do they still sell Everclear? ”

What, biologists don’t have pure non-denatured anhydrous alcohol in their labs?

Better make friends with some chemists, I think.

A favorite restaurant of ours used to have a whiskey drink called “Better bet on Black”. They discontinued it, but we managed to snag the recipe. My better half has promised to make them for us tomorrow night, but re-named “Better Bet on Beto”.
We voted on the first day of early voting. Tomorrow evening, we’ll be watching MSNBC and the Colbert live show, as we down a few of those drinks, hopefully in celebration.

They do, but they do not sell the 190 proof in Minnesota (or my state either), so you can only get the 151 proof, unless you want to drive to a state that does.

The thing is, the Democrats should win, based on US history. I’ve been claiming for some time that if they don’t at least make gains in Congress, it is definitive proof of cheating. US-Americans just don’t vote for the party in power. Nearly literally ever. It has happened twice in US history, once during WWII and once just after 9/11. We may have evidence that we’ve lost the democracy for good tomorrow.

190 Everclear is still available, depending upon your state laws. I bought some in Louisiana and Delaware, it’s restricted in Pennsylvania to 151, might try that – once the price of vanilla beans comes down to sane prices.
Currently, the price of Madagascar beans is fully ten times the price they used to sell for. :/

190 performed poorly in making an extract, 89 – 100 proof neutral spirits performed much better, so it’s likely too much ethanol solvent to water preventing extraction.
As I recall, water was also important when using ethanol as rocket fuel, as the vapor helps tool and shield the engine bell and burn chamber walls.

As for drinking, I far prefer aged whiskey. Bush Mills Black Bush Irish Whiskey, if anyone feels like slipping something into my Christmas stocking.
Of course, I’d also then need to have a Christmas stocking.

I know what you say is true but I sure do not want the evidence that we have lost what is left of our rep. democracy. For all those purists out there. We are not a democracy we are a representative republic democracy. Oh gee I guess you all forgot to tell the rethug’s that.

that statement contains much about how I feel this election.
Part of me says we have already lost but as I watch things unfold I keep see things in a positive light and hope my fears are for nothing but…………….
I am not so sure that the republican voter fraud and the various forms voter suppression which seems to be their main is all that bullet proof given a large turnout so their is hope a little. On the other-hand trump has clearly demonstrated to the whole world that the american fascist racist antidemocratic segment of the population is alive and well
another part of me wants them to win by cheating so obviously that there is an uproar that would make any “third world country” contested election look like a PTA dispute in comparison
that is what i expect actually

@14: Yeah, yeah, representative democracy. Nonetheless, voting for more of the party in power is just not something USians do. It’s not in the national character. If we appear to have done, panic. It’s a fake.

we just bought a property and it came with…junk. lots and lots of junk. sheds, outdoor piles, house, all full of junk. great place, good bones, but junk. and among the junk, in one of the sheds? were like four gigantic bottles of the actual 190-proof everclear, which in cali you can basically only get at the PBX (dude we bought the house from was ex-army), and also about two dozen mason jars full of everclear-soaked, pitted, sweetened cherries. guy was making everclear-based garnishes by the pound. each cherry is basically like taking a shot. we’ve been trying to give the jars away and everybody i know looks at me like i’ve grown two extra heads when i offer lol. i did manage to unload one of the bottles to a friend who makes cannabis tinctures, but we’re apparently stuck with the rest of this crap, which will likely take the rest of our lives to consume, since i have learned, experimentally, that everclear cherries don’t go with any of my favorite cocktails.
