Old people are busy having this conversation all across America


They’re confident that they’re right, because the media, from Fox News to the New York Times, is feverishly telling them that civility is the essential weave that holds the fabric of society together, even as rich people and racists are ripping the stitches out.

    I’ve also seen the reverse with Holocaust survivors warning young people who didn’t pay attention to history and getting brushed off.

    I don’t want to turn this into a generational thing but I find this assumption that young people are the progressive and active hope for the future while old folks are complacent priveleged and happy with regression, a little strange. And I’m not sure that there is any evidence actual or even anecdotal for.

    Then again I didn’t think that was the point of this cartoon.

    Civility is recognizing the humanity of others. That is why they are called civil rights. They dismantle the Civil Rights Act while complaining about civility, ridiculous.
