Jesus, Piers Morgan is a terrible person

Watch this embarrassing spectacle: he berates Ash Sarkar for protesting Trump’s visit to London because he claims she didn’t protest Obama’s immigration policies enough. This is a regular “Dear Muslima”: let’s rank offenses so we can tell people to shut up if they haven’t protested everything. Sarkar, at least, hammers back, which was satisfying.

As a teacher, the worst bit for me was when he asks her how many people were deported under Obama, she says she doesn’t know the number but she was aware of the expansion of repressive immigration policies under Obama, and Morgan just badgers her incessantly to name a number when she’s plainly said she doesn’t know. That’s the worst kind of gotcha game. And then he uses the fact that she doesn’t have this one number at her fingertips to claim that Obama is her “hero” — which leads her to point out that she’s a communist and doesn’t support the American Democratic party.

He is just a terrible person. We Americans drove him out of the US by not watching his obnoxious, awful program — maybe the UK needs to catch up with us in this one regard.

Can you have him deported?

Hey, the only reason you got him in the first place was that we stopped watching his dreck long enough to bruise his ego, so he buggered off to see if you were any more amenable.

The general British attitude towards Piers Morgan , as #1 points out, is disgust and anger.

Here’s Jim’ll Paint It’s rendition of Piers Morgan and Donald Trump enjoying a Valentine’s Day date at Greggs (a cheap chain of commercial bakeries we have here, with an emphasis on the cheap).

Obama was really bad on immigration.

    Obama was not:

-Separating families at the border. This infuriated Republicans and they called the policy of keeping families together “catch and release.”
-Throwing every illegal border crosser in prison prior to a hearing. First time illegal border crossing is a misdemeanor.
    -Detaining all asylum seekers.

He emphasized deportation of people who committed other crimes. He was not targeting people for simply being in the country illegally.

And of course people were protesting his immigration policies:

The Grauniad considers this loathsome eejit one of hair furor’s few fans in the UK, Britain’s Trumpocracy: who are the president’s biggest cheerleaders? Others include Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson (now ex-FM), and überracist Katie Hopkins. And Tommy Robinson, the former leader of the English Defence League (EDL), full-on nazis:

Before he was jailed [in May for contempt of court], petitions were set up asking Trump to grant asylum to Robinson in the US.

After Robinson’s arrest, Donald Trump Jr, the president’s [sic] eldest son, for whom no bandwagon is too stupid to jump aboard, tweeted his support of Robinson citing his arrest as a cautionary tale to America: Don’t let America follow these footsteps, he tweeted.

For some reason, they omit PM Theresa May. Possibly because she’s as inept in her hair furor worship as she seems to be with brexit and everything else.

Wait… She’s a communist who doesn’t support the Democratic Party? But according to every maga who flails away at their keyboards, Democrats are communists!

    I’m so confused now.

Piers Morgan is a British citizen, which makes deporting him a bit difficult.

Unless you’re black, such as in the Windrush scandal, “elderly Commonwealth-born citizens who were told they were illegal immigrants, despite having lived in the UK for around 50 years”.

I suppose Canadians might perhaps find room for him on the northern tip of Ellesmere Island, so long as he has no access to electricity. Or pens or paper. Chisels and rocks, fine.

He’d probably claim to be recruiting a crack team of Polar Bear SEALS to invade commie Muslim mucky-foreign-language-speaking atheist Greenland. Hopefully, he’d actually try, and the Polar Bears would find him so obnoxious they wouldn’t need to dine on actual seals for awhile… albeit I do not wish indigestion on any Polar Bear.

the thing I appreciated the least is the completely lack of respect shown in that discussion/debate argument shown to a woman, though I do think it would have been little different if the opposition had been a man, Talking over everyone, interrupting repeatedly,
I grew up when Firing Line with William F. Buckley Jr was broadcast and even when the discussion was heated it did stay in comparison very respectful.
that display unfortunately leads to the conclusion that debate and agreement is very close to an impossibility and a pointless exercise..

Hold on a minute. We are trying to keep environmental pollution to a minimum in the Arctic. And there are real humans on that island.

I love the comment about President Erdoğan. Piers seems to have missed the little fact that, at least at the moment, Turkey is a NATO member and thus a British ally.
Of course, after Trump’s performance at the NATO summit this could change.

Morgan has always been Trump-like in his bi-partisan douchbaggery. He was editor of The News of the World before he went to the Mirror, and rose to prominence under Rupert Murdoch’s tutelage. He loved Jimmy Savile before claiming he never met him, and now has a regular Daily Mail column.

I guess we should be grateful the Brits have more sense than to elect him into office, unlike his pal, Donald Trump.

The two men certainly spent a lot of time talking over and interrupting Ash Sarkar. She had remarkable restraint given how little support she had up there.

It’s Good Morning Britain, Mostly people don’t watch it, heh

It’s on because someone thought Piers Morgan was slightly more interesting than a test card or a potter’s wheel for pre coffee morning viewing.

Personally I’d go for the test card (which is what we had when I was a kid, or pages from ceefax)

Would certainly like to see him gone though. Also Richard Littlejohn (who essentially killed a trans teacher with his hate campaign) and Katie Hopkins could go with him.

  17. ck, the Irate Lump says

One bright part of that “debate” is idiot Piers whining that she doesn’t criticise her hero Obama, and her reply that, “He’s not my hero. I’m a communist, ya idiot!” He completely ignores that, and then again accuses her of being relentlessly pro-Obama, and she again restates that she’s a critic of Obama, and a critic of the Democratic party because she’s literally a communist. I still don’t think he got it.

  18. tacitus says

Well, he got it to the extent that he used it as a parting shot against her in an attempt to invalidate her opinions completely.

  19. methuseus says

Why can’t people like him stop changing the damned discussion any time it is against them? Also, his (I presume) co-host (the Caucasian woman) doesn’t have a single care for him. Too bad she can’t get him fired in some way. He just needs to be deplatformed.
