    The diver was lucky. Humbolt squid usually hunt in packs, and can gang-gank their prey, spinning it and pulling it rapidly to the deeps. Also, they don’t have gentle squishy suckers. Instead they have retractable hooked claws down the length of their tentacles. Another diver who survived such an attack had multiple deep contusions, his eardrums ruptured and nearly lost his breather to an inquisitive squid.

    Humboldt squid rarely attack divers, and the one in this video was flashing white and squirting ink. it was afraid.
