Rogan Brown was commissioned to create paper sculptures of bacteria. They are beautiful.
It took 4 months to cut all the fiddly little bits. Worth every minute, though.

Beautifull indeed. But I keep wondering how the hell does it hold form and not colapse?
Well, you see, it has a cell wall that allows it to manage the osmotic pressure… :-)
Mr. Brown quite obviously has no housecats.
So what kind of bacteria am I seeing there? And what are all these swirly “tentacles”?

That was my first thought, as well; I thought, ‘How the heck to they DO that?!’
I can’t really tell, but I suspect the layers may be sandwiched between sheets of really clean glass.

It’s a model of E. coli; I think all those “tentacles” are meant to be pili.
