There’s an Australian Huffington Post?

I’m so sorry, antipodes. It seems the HuffPo Empire of Gullible Idiocy has expanded into the Southern Hemisphere. Fortunately, some people are already fighting back. It’s a good start.

I notice, too, that the Australian edition has yet to include their notorious “sideboob” category, or anything by Deepak Chopra. I guess they’re going to gradually ratchet up the sleaze and stupidity. Brace yourself, Australia, Ariana Huffington has no reservations at all about racing to the bottom of the sludge pit.

As a passport carrying Australian all I can say is ‘Crikey!’ and ‘Fairdinkum?’. I’m also not the least bit surprised.

That’s nothing. I just heard in one of my podcasts that there is a new Arab version of Huffpo, and almost as soon as they started, they had issues because they had anti-gay, anti-atheist (and anti-feminist? not sure of the thrid category, but there were three mentioned) posts. They withdrew some but not all of the offending posts.

@3 I’ve been living in the U.S. 16 years. When I visit Australia these days at least once I seek out a Starbucks so I can feel ‘at home’ for a moment, despite the amazingly superior coffee culture in Oz. I live in a very weird headspace but glad I have to work hard to find my franchise coffee fix.

You must live in a deepak chopra level of weird head space to be choosing Starbucks over the independent coffee available in Oz.

In fairness, that’s an eminently sensible statement on the face of it.

    re @13:
odd how frequently PZ’s surname gets misspelled, but this is even more astounding.
That they would misspell it immediately above a screenshot of the Sciencblogs page they link to, where his name is right there at the top: Posted by PZ Myers on September 27, 2009.
And notice the annum part of that date. hmmm, I’d say “a bit old for a reference”
so even the protesters are incompetent? E for “effort”.

    re 14:
    I know!!
They not incompetent, just victims of Lord Typyos.
Lord Typo just stuck that extra “e” in squidlords name to prove he rules.
    All hail Lord Typosum

Thanks Rietpluim. I’m off to CuteOverLoad to get that image out of my brain. Much safer than brain bleach.

Most of the media here is owned by Ruoert Meredog so the Huff Po would at least be a change from the blinkered right wing bigotry that assaults all five senses on a daily basis.

@JohnnieCanuck #18 – Wait, there is no sideboob of Deepak Chopra on CuteOverload?
