What is the minimal number of participants required for a parade?

The answer is, apparently, one. Some guy tried to organize a ‘heterosexual pride’ parade in Seattle, and only the organizer showed up. With some balloons and a cardboard sign.

This reflects poorly on us, and I think we need to vote Anthony Rebello out of the Straight Men’s Club. All in favor (only straight men allowed to vote — we know all teh gayz want to snap him up for their club), raise your hand and say “AYE”.

Black and white balloons… cute…. I had actually read about people seriously considering Straight Pride movements including designing a flag. That they’d seriously want a monochrome flag specifically to counter a rainbow flag showed me exactly what the supposed movement was about.

Seriously, who would want to be monochrome?

As for honest Straight Pride… well, heck, can’t have too many people proud of sex. Knock yourself out.

Hmmm… I do feel slightly proud that only the one dude thought it was important to show up. Banishment seems unwarranted, but this should at least be sent to committee, to fire him for incompetence and revoke his parade-organizing duties, along with a non-binding resolution that he’s a horrible fuckwit. Anyway, we would probably have better parades if that’s left to our Gay Overlords, who are clearly the experts at not being such utter shitheads about these things.

He’s straight and he’s proud, but apparently he’s not able to get one female to join his “parade”. Kinda muddies up his message, I’d say. Maybe he does have a wife or a lady friend though, and she had something more important to do – like find a different guy.

Perhaps he’s aspirationally straight, but operationally asexual?

No, it’s not “one”. I can see two people following behind him. Mebbe they just wanted to keep their distance, eh? Oh,,, yeah.

I guess, if he wasn’t such an idiot, he would’ve just packed up & gone home when no one joined him

He must be one of those MGTOW that we keep hearing about.

I don’t see anyone ‘following’ him.
I see two other people using the same cross-walk.

Nah, those two people were hovering there to wait until the camera went away. Then they came up and said “’scuse me, mister, but now that you’re done with them, can we have your balloons?”

  9. chigau (違う) says

I think he should have put Xs and Ys on his balloons.
    Randomly, of course.

I like the crosswalk–no zebra crossing there. Unless it’s a gayzebra going to a gazebo.

Look, as a card-carrying member of the Straight Dude’s Club, none of us would have used that diamond thingie to indicate an ‘R’. That’s obviously a butt plug!

    False flag!

At least his ballons are both black and white, so presumably this troglodyte at least isn’t opposed to interracial marriage.

Their chant is the best: “We’re still the default! We’re still the default!”

    All together now:
    What do we want?
    EVERYTHING!
    When do we want it?
    STILL!

Shouldn’t he have chosen a set of pink and blue balloons? With the blue ones on top?

  16. rrhain says

I thought “Straight Pride” was called “Mardi Gras.” There’s a parade with a bunch of floats with scantily clad people tossing beads to women who bare their breasts for the guys.

At least that would have been colorful. And representative of something that could be argued to be positive or at least not necessarily negative.
This idea that straight is the opposite of gay therefore monochrome black and white is the opposite of rainbow is weird. It’s like saying well, our opponents value intelligence and integrity so we’re going to value stupidity and dishonesty.
Rainbow = diversity and inclusiveness and an all accepting spectrum. And rainbows are pretty and fun. In contrast black and white would have to mean exclusivity and dichotomous division. And they are ugly and dreary. These are all *bad* things. And nothing that any proud straight (non-asshole) person would identify with heterosexuality.
