I thought the white stuff was snow, and PZ had just found an octopus living under his garage.

I wonder if that’s part of an artificial reef, sunk on purpose, or just random rubble. The ocean is generally so barren of shelter that even a piece of floating wood will accumulate fish sheltering under it.

Beside the general aesthetic benefits, and staying i the good graces of His Tentacled Highness, why would you want an octopus in an armored vehicle?

It’s quite a sad picture, in a way. That octopus has eaten her last meal, and will die soon after the eggs hatch. And most of them won’t survive either.

On the other hand, perhaps it’s a good thing cephalopods have such short lives. If they had human lifespans they’d be our masters.
