Kangaroo paw plants are very interesting. Until about 20 years ago, they had to harvested in the wild for the horticultural trade. Since then, horticulturalists have developed clones that can be reliably propagated in nurseries. Some of the clones (measured by their flower colour and shape) apparently don’t exist in the wild. Fast artificial selection at work upon a genome that seems to contain a range of flower variation that has not been expressed in wild examples.
