I’m a-comin’ home to Seattle!

I get to spend a few days visiting with my mom and brothers and sisters at the end of this month. In addition to attending Norwescon and inseminating people’s brains with Science, I’ll be speaking on the University of Washington campus on 27 March. I’ll be in Kane Hall…and how weird, I remember taking classes in that building ages ago.

I’ll be oscillating between my mother’s house in Auburn, the DoubleTree at SeaTac, and at least one trip out to the UW. I might find a few moments in there to fall into a stationary phase somewhere within that triangle if anyone wants to intercept me.

@PZ #2 – Don’t sell yourself short. Although I suspect that Trophy Wife is more of an impediment.

As for other indulgences, Sharp’s Roaster, across the street from Norwescon’s host hotel, has a very nice selection of local and regional microbrews. Be sure to stop in.

As long as the drunken debauchery occurs after 9pm, we can have a meeting of at least two FTB minds. Huzzah!

If you are going to be in the area on the 23rd or 24th and like wine, you should consider checking out Taste Washington. It is a massive wine tasting event with a handful of ciders and beers thrown in and a bunch of samples from local restaurants. My wife and I have been going for 3 years now.

Sends my UW Tacoma kid over for the lecture so I can fume furiously in jealousy. Or I could drive over the pass. Hmmmm.

The details of your UW talk seem to be restricted to members of the Humanists of Washington. Can non-members attend, and if so, what do we need to know (time, room, etc.)?

Might I respectfully suggest the Barking Dog alehouse in North Ballard, if anybody wants to arrange a locale for becoming stationary? Good food, and even more important: imperial pints of the Most Excellent beer and a good atmosphere. A bit small.

Heck, forget PZ – go to the Barking Dog anyway!

I won’t be there, more’s the pity, although I think W.U. and I may be doing our annual “Fly Out West and Put a Couple Thousand Miles on a Rental Car” thingie kind of soon, due to certain developments (of a nice kind).

Oh sweet! Go check out my cephalopod art in the Art Show while you’re at the convention. I hope several of us can meet up for beer!
