I. Hate. Republicans. With Every. Fiber. Of. My. Being. (Health Care)

(Content warning: rape, rape survivors… and also a lot of strong, angry, ranting language)

So the fucking Rethuglicans in the fucking House voted to replace sections of the ACA, including doing away with the stipulation that health insurance companies can’t deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions… and one of those fucking conditions was fucking rape.

When House Republicans passed the American Health Care Act on Thursday, many Americans likely thought of their family and friends living with cancer, diabetes, or heart disease. These diseases are commonly referred to as “pre-existing conditions” – conditions which, under the Republican health care bill, could result in them being denied health insurance.

But another, less publicised group of people were also concerned by the bill’s passage: rape survivors.

Before Obamacare, some insurance companies considered rape and domestic abuse pre-existing conditions. One woman, Jody Neal-Post, says she was turned away after telling a potential insurance that she was a domestic violence victim – despite otherwise being perfectly healthy.

would go into an all-caps explosion of anger, here, except that the Senate, thankfully, shot two very large middle fingers at the House

New reports confirm that the Senate is refusing to even hold a vote on the Obamacare repeal bill the House just passed, killing it within hours of its passage.

Bloomberg is reporting that Senate Republicans will snub the U.S. House of Representatives’ version of the American Health Care Act, instead opting to write its own version with a 12-member working group. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), who is considered one of the more moderate Republicans in the chamber, said she’s looking forward to writing up a completely different healthcare reform bill with “a clean slate.”

Because the Senate only has 52 Republicans, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) can’t afford to have even three defections. Both Murkowski and Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) voted against Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’ confirmation earlier this year, proving that the Republican majority in the Senate is tenuous at best.

But it’s not all good news

Senate Republicans said Thursday they won’t vote on the House-passed bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, but will write their own legislation instead.

A Senate proposal is now being developed by a 12-member working group. It will attempt to incorporate elements of the House bill, senators said, but will not take up the House bill as a starting point and change it through the amendment process.

“The safest thing to say is there will be a Senate bill, but it will look at what the House has done and see how much of that we can incorporate in a product that works for us in reconciliation,” said Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo.

“We are going to draft a Senate bill,” added Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa. “That is what I’ve been told.”

The working group has been meeting for weeks, said Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, a member of the group.

“What we have to do is build a consensus among our conference and that is what the working group is designed to do,” Cornyn said. “To get to a compromise we can agree to and then present it to the larger conference.”

Cornyn said there is “really no deadline” for the group to produce a bill. “We are just working toward getting 51 votes,” he said.

Let me make one thing very fucking clear

YOU ARE NOT FUCKING REPLACING THE ACA, SENATE REPUBLICANS. DO YOU FUCKING UNDERSTAND THAT? WE WILL NOT FUCKING LET YOU. THE REPUBLICANS IN THE HOUSE JUST LOST THEIR FUCKING JOBS. DON’T BE ASSHOLES AND LOSE YOURS, TOO.

This is a fucking call to fucking action. Donate to and campaign for fucking Act Blue. Use the Resist Bot to fax your representatives and senators; let your representatives know that they are fucking fired. Let your senators know that if they want to keep their fucking jobs, they better fucking leave well enough the fuck alone.

This is not fucking okay. I already pay over four-hundred and eighty-five fucking dollars a fucking month for my fucking health care. I could very fucking easily lose it under the Republican’s bullshit.

I won’t.

I fucking won’t.

I will go to fucking war over this.
