It’s Like My Twin Has A Twin!

I should have mentioned this days ago, but I am in the midst of a bit of a grading deluge. But anyway, I have a new Twitter avatar (is that what they call them on Twitter? I really don’t know), courtesy of (maybe? I don’t really know) one of you (it wasn’t me), created by the brilliant artist behind Black Mudpuppy, Ethan Kocak (@Blackmudpuppy, on twitter).

I love it. And whomever sponsored it.

I must say… I think it is consistent with previous cuttlefish… but this is the first I have noticed that I am apparently left handed.

  2. says

In the midst of a grading deluge
Having a twin and two quills could be huge.
Left hand, right hand, bring on the stacks,
Tentacles multiply so you can relax.

  3. Pierce R. Butler says

Having one quill with blue or black ink and another with the dreaded red ink must come in handy (tentacly?) – but do you grip them both on the sinister side?

Do those in the, ah, salt-water side of the cephalopod clan show any lateral (or singular) preferences, or do they all manipulate* omnidexterously?

*Comparing tentacles to fingers may work as some sort of analogy, but I can think of no molluscan equivalent to a hand… corpapulation?
