“Mad Max” Features Strong Female Lead; MRA Idiot Urges Boycott.

There’s action on action, and thrill upon thrill
Explosions and chases, there’s more than your fill
A director who works at the peak of his skill
And a cast well-adept at their duties

Reviews are impressive—the best of the best—
If doubters had questions, it passes the test
A movie to savor… but, just one request:
Don’t see it, cos females have cooties

This is just ridiculous.

(The Hollywood Reporter)A well-known “men’s rights activist” blog is calling for a boycott of the postapocalyptic film “Mad Max: Fury Road” for being a “feminist piece of propaganda posing as a guy flick.”

Author Aaron Clarey admits he has not seen the film yet, but his self-proclaimed “spidey sense” noticed that Charlize Theron “talked a lot during the trailers” for the film, and he said Tom Hardy only seemed to have cameo appearances. “Charlize Theron’s character barked orders to Mad Max,” writes Clarey on Return of Kings. “Nobody barks orders to Mad Max.”

Clarey did not like reading reviews commending Theron for many of her action scenes, nor did he appreciate the news that the movie’s director, George Miller, asked “Vagina Monologues” author Eve Ensler to consult with the five actresses who play sex slaves in the film. (Theron’s character plays a road warrior fighting to lead the child-bearing women to safety.)

Clarey writes that he is concerned “men in America and around the world are going to be duped by explosions, fire tornadoes, and desert raiders into seeing what is guaranteed to be nothing more than feminist propaganda, while at the same time being insulted AND tricked into viewing a piece of American culture ruined and rewritten right in front of their very eyes.”

So far, every review I have read has been positive (my fave). But as soon as the “feminist” aspect of the movie is mentioned (say, this review), there are comments (protip: never read the comments!) bemoaning the changing of a classic (“you might as well remake ‘Citizen Kane’.”), saying this will never work… despite having just read an rave review. Or, more probably, having just read the word “feminist” in the title of a rave review they didn’t need to read.

    “a piece of American culture”

And there was I thinking Mad Max was originally Australian. Directed by an Australian, set in Australia, filmed in Australia.

    Citizen Kane. LOL.

Charlize Theron is the reason I considered seeing the new Mad Max at all. I love me some explosions, car chases, and firefights, but get worn out from other, significantly less fun action movie tropes. That Theron was willing to sign on to this remake gave me a bit of hope it wouldn’t be terrible in the raging sexism department.

Haven’t seen it yet, but now I definitely want to.

Dammit, David beat me to it. Some woman probably distracted me with her emasculating feminist wiles. Oh, but don’t forget “starring an Australian:” even if he turned out to be a complete dickhole.

Mad Max is yet another illustration – an all too common one in our decadent times, Exhibit A! – of the feminization of the West. Call it dumbing down, institutionalization, feminization is leveling of Man, the transformation of all humankind into cattle, with no distinctions of class, race, or gender as Mad Max, where sexes are merely interchangeable. Maleness and femaleness are merely interchangeable, where any hysterical woman with PMS can pick a gun and call herself “soldier” or “hero”. Maleness is merely sexology, morphology of the genitals, where genitals are merely vessels for pleasure, with no deeper significance, no representation of a higher Truth.

Liberal Nihilism is in full swing, in academia, in culture, in Hollywood… pop culture with its backing from feminism, has invaded yet another aspect of maleness, has violated the laws of nature… an insult to nature. Yet another experiment in social engineering ton awry.

“Strong female characters”, hysterical women protected by the nanny state. While men become more obtuse, are destroyed from the inside out. As women are “emancipated”, men are destroyed as a result. Everyone joins the race for last place. All men, all of mankind, becomes stupid, childish, moronic.

    Decadence.

Yes! Isn’t it hilarious–people actually think this way! It’s like they have surrounded themselves with a cocoon of like-minded individuals, in a hive of misinformation, propping up a privileged world view. An unsustainable situation will not be sustained; what we see here are the flailings of the old order as it gives way to the modern world.

And these people will miss out on a great movie, because their clubhouse rules are threatened.

Thank you, so much, R is r, for the belly laugh!

Not sure if Right is right is serious or Poe.

Sounds like a good movie but isn’t Mel Gibson getting a little old for the role? (I know, I know , ageism and all that -in my defence I am talking Mel “anti-semite” Gibson here.)

hysterical women protected by the nanny state.

    Really?

Howabouts Boadicea, Joan of Arc, Hillary Clinton.

Among about a billion counterexamples for ya.

I guess these stupid MRAs didn’t see “The Road Warrior”, or “Beyond Thunderdome”, both made in the 1980s, and both featuring strong female characters.

Of course, the 1980s didn’t have a ‘net for these morons to spew their hate.

@StevoR #11 – Max Rockatansky is now played by Tom Hardy.

@David Evens #3 – and featuring Australian characters and settings. Not that anything like reality ever penetrates these bonehead’s thick monkey craniums.

Having now seen the movie – I loved it. Spectacular, some great characters and twists and a lot of fun. Would definitely recommend and give it five stars. Five bright first magnitude stars at that!
