Sad but brilliant, as usual. But sad..and damned scarey. Twinned with the Jennifer poem, it’s a powerful statement which the people who need to see it won’t see. And if they do, they will probably think Jennifer got what she deserved.
Was that double meaning deliberate? (The child is consuming nutrition, yes, but also will, once born, consume his/her mother’s life.)
A friend in Mississippi tells me there’s resistance to this measure – but she hangs out with the smarter crowd, and so probably lacks a good barometer of the local atmosphere.
If she’s wrong, in the Magnolia State there will soon be a whole ‘nother meaning to the phrase “miscarriage of justice”.
Being a legal person might not be the protection they think it is.
Mississippi has very wide-ranging self-defense laws … you can use lethal force against any person who you feel is a threat to your life and claim self-defense.
So have they inadvertently legalized late-term abortion?
