Remember Psalms 56

How sweet. Those nice people who own Memories Pizza, the O’Connor family (I said FAMILY, do you hear me? Good god-fearing Christian family, not that made up kind the fagg gay people have), are being given tons and tons of money to reward them for their courageous stand on Not Providing Pizza For Any Damn Gay Wedding. There’s a fundraiser, and the funds are just pouring in, several donations per minute. It’s $108, 630 now but going up as I type, so it will be well over that by the time you look, if you do.

Purpose: To relieve the financial loss endured by the proprietors’ stand for faith.

“Because of,” that should read, but we get the drift. They gots faith, and the faith makes them hate the gays, so we love them and want to give them money. A pretty thought.

I’ve seen cynics claim that the O’Connors did this because the pizza biz wasn’t doing well, but surely that can’t possibly be right.

Remember Psalms 56 vs. 3 & 4 When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, In God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?
Give you lots and lots of money, that’s what. Congratulations.

This is why the libertarian response to anti-discrimination laws (i.e. “…no one would want to patronize a business that treats its customers badly…”) is pure bullshit.

    Bigotry can be quite profitable.

  2. footface says

It ain’t easy emulating a prophet who said “Hate thine enemy” and “Do unto others as you wouldn’t wish they do unto you” and “Let him with or without sin throw the first stone.”

    Being Christlike is hard.

  3. Blanche Quizno says

Since they’re a good Christian family, surely they’ll choose to give all that money directly to the poor, as Jesus commanded:

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. Luke 12:33

Luke 18:22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth. Proverbs 13:7

    *ahem*

Woe to you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. Luke 6:24

Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. James 5:1

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21

Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. Matthew 19:21

Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. Matthew 19:23-24

    Remember Matthew 19!

Hold on, didn’t they say “if we were asked to cater a gay wedding, we wouldnt’ do it?” Who gets pizza catered at a wedding?

Tell you what, if I’m asked to cater a gay wedding, I won’t do it either. I mean, I’m not a caterer and don’t even have a restaurant or other food related business. And I wouldn’t cater ANY wedding because of that. But it shouldn’t matter. Now where’s my money?

  5. Rich Roberts says

@4 – Sad thing is, since the individual contributions are small, all that money will be tax free; at least at the Federal level. Here in Michigan a gentleman received over 300K in donations from a GoFundMe campaign and it all ended up being tax free. He was very deserving however.

But but the Invisible Hand Of The Free Market!

OK, so I read the previous post and comments and I seem to have some privilage at work. Always considered a pot luck a step up from pizza though.

Anyway, I still think it’s weird. They said they’d serve gay people. But they won’t cater gay weddings. And people are giving them money for this.

I should probably stop trying to think about this?

I’ve been watching the gofundme page for the last 15 minutes, and it’s literally gone up $100,000 in that time period. It’s at $411,000 at the moment. If it keeps going at this pace, these people are going to be millionaires for going on tv for a few minutes and saying some ignorant shit.
