Try showing a little class

The Republican Congressional staffer who pissed on Malia and Sasha Obama the other day has resigned.

Elizabeth Lauten, communications director for congressman Stephen Fincher, gave up her post on Monday.

Ms Lauten earlier criticised Sasha and Malia Obama on Facebook following their appearance in short skirts at a Thanksgiving ceremony.

Yeah she “criticized” them all right.

Her deleted post reads: “Dear Sasha and Malia: I get you’re both in those awful teen years, but you’re a part of the First Family, try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play.

“Then again, your mother and father don’t respect their positions very much, or the nation for that matter. So I’m guessing you’re coming up a little short in the ‘good role model’ department.”

The post goes on to advise the girls to “rise to the occasion and act like being in the White House matters to you”.

“Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar,” she added.

That’s barely even coded. It’s all too easy to read what she’s really saying.

Good riddance.

Good grief. Whatever happened to “the kids are off limits”?

Kind of tangential, but a million years ago it would have been some smug male ass saying this in public. Now, if you want to broadcast sexist crap you have to hire a female ass to do it. Progress?

Not that it matters, but I went and checked out what the girls were wearing to see what got her so riled up in the first place.

It was totally mainstream. That’s just what girls wear. It’s normal.

However, as a consolation I stumbled on this gem of an image. 😛

I’m glad she’s out of there. For the duration of the presidency, the White House is his family’s *home*. His minor children should be able to feel safe in their own *home*.

And the fact that that horrible person directed criticisms of the parents toward the children really went beyond the pale. The children didn’t volunteer to be elected to anything; they have no say in anything.

Just another conservative who obviously feels that the White House is reserved for white people (unless you happen to be a butler or other servant).

WMDKitty, it should also be noted that the photograph was taken during Obama’s “pardoning” of a turkey last week. Which is a silly tradition that deserves some eye-rolling. It’s not like she was rolling her eyes at some solemn formal event.

At least the apology was good:

“I’d like to apologise to all of those who I have hurt and offended with my words, and I pledge to learn and grow (and I assure you I have) from this experience.”

Better than I’d expect from most members of the political combine.

@6 I think that was the reason the Republicans were outraged. The hold to the symbols of the Republic because they despise the substance.

Sasha and Malia’s eye rolling exposed the turkey pardoning ceremony as the ridiculous sham that it is. And that is what got the GOP ire.

Oh yes, and their racism problem.

    Phillip H-B @9,

Was there really a lot of widespread Republican ire? This seemed to me to be a case of one staffer who got way too caught up in the attack dog game.
