The Hitchcock moment

Oh yay, CAFE volunteers tell you why EQUAL RIGHTS are so great and why they are for EVERYONE and not just some…like…you know…women.

Pay special attention at 15 seconds in – see that guy in the blue shirt next to the guy in the fedora? Handing out leaflets? That’s Justin “oh no not Justin Trottier but a different Justin altogether” Trottier. Justin Trottier, is who that is.

“next to the guy in the fedora”

It’s like they’re not even trying any more.

    Heh.

    (And: no. Really? So surprised.)

In related, it’s regrettable what these clowns have done to the reputation of the fedora..

    (Time to bring back berets.)

… it’s regrettable what these clowns have done to the reputation of the fedora.

Berets schmerets – let’s pitch in and buy fedoras for all US feminist leaders!

I like the way you think. But I’m just starting to feel the whole ‘I’m totes Bogart’ thing isn’t an adequately fresh fashion direction anymore. ..

So, personally, if I ever find myself working a table, handing out leaflets, I plan on rocking a top hat, tails, and a cane.

I’ll be the one wearing the “I’m #1” trucker hat and “I’m with stupid” t-shirt.

We’re getting somewhere. Get someone in chaps, someone in leather, and we’re most of The Village People doing Macho Man.

The “fedora” is actually a trilby hat. It got its new name because it was worn in a play about a princess named Fedora. It was worn by a woman. Because it was a woman’s hat, a woman’s stylish hat.

I am all for gender-neutral clothing, but I find the MRAs to be not so fedorable.

They apparently don’t care about the optics of their approach, how dishonest their claim to be seeking “equality” is: they’re trying to establish the “Canadian Centre for Men and Families” and holding up signs saying “I Support Boys, Men & Families” – completely erasing girls and women from the picture. Where’s the equality in this?

  9. says

The “fedora” is actually a trilby hat

    Correct – a proper fedora has a 2 1/2 to 3″ brim and a vestigial chin-rope.
There are class distinctions in play between fedoras and trilbys, in the same sense as between bowlers and toppers, too. So it’s wise to steer clear of the topic and that’s why my lovely vintage 1930s Borsalinos are back in storage for a while.

What do Justin Trottier’s business cards say his job title is? “Elephant in the room”? Everyone seems very determined not to notice him there.

So I kinda have issues with everything in that video but… is it just me, or does “I think men need to play a role in women’s success” sound just a little bit dismissive of women? I’m happy to play a role in anybody’s success, if I’m asked to do so… as long as it’s not CAFE or any other “MHR”M group but, no women are entirely capable of succeeding without regard to anybody, just like men are.

I do wonder how they get women to support them though… do they actually believe all the “justice for men and boys” (but we’re in no way related to AVfM, oh no) crap, or are they only aware of the superficial, shark-eyed smiley face stuff?

Google “Justin Trottier Toronto Star” for a lovely article about how he believes (or at least believed in 2011) that men are the new underclass.

What proof does he cite? Well, the percentage of women enrolled in university is rising and the gender wage gap is decreasing. All of this apparently means that men are being oppressed. Yes, you read that right. Justin Trottier believes that men are being oppressed by having less of an advantage.

There is no face palm great enough to express how I feel about this.

Specials thanks to Justin et al, for organizing this “Educational Rally” and our awesome camera men! Well Done!

It was great to see so many supporters join us – it was a beautiful day all around and a pleasure to meet so many wonderful CAFE Volunteers! .

But she’s probably thanking a different Justin. It’s a pretty common name, after all. I guess there’s no point in asking why she didn’t have to thank any camera women, is there? After all, camera work is more of a guy thing, innit?

Looks like the same Paulette MacDonald who did an interview with AVfM in February.

CAFE is a front for AVFM. Iirc, money from AVFM was given to TheWoollyBumblebee in the amount of $5,000.00 to start a men’s shelter after the Earl Silverman suicide. Elam used Earl’s death to get cash and sent some of it to Woolly. Then the MRA’s kicked her out because she started sounding ‘feminazi’ and wanted the money back. I believe it went to CAFE. I could be wrong about this but it seems likely. I don’t know if Woolly is affiliated with CAFE but i KNOW AVFM is.
