A Tippecanoe County pastor who was arrested last year under suspicions that he had planted cameras in his church’s ladies’ room has been charged going on 1 year later with child exploitation and voyeurism.
Fifty-six-year-old Robert A. Lyzenga, a former pastor at Sunrise Christian Reformed Church in Lafayette, was charged Thursday with five counts of child exploitation and five counts of voyeurism. That’s 10 felony charges.
According to court documents, on April 22, 2012, a Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to the church (located on County Road 500 South) on a complaint of a camera being found in a women’s bathroom.
So what is that? Combining glimpses of the Forbidden Parts with dirties? Peepee, poopoo, tinkles, smells? Arousal and degradation and contempt all at once?
And doing it all for god, or protected by god, or with god’s forgiveness, or some damn thing.
I’ve been to quite a lot of nude drawing classes (the model was nude, not me). Even as a pimply, juvenile virgin, the eroticism of the experience disappeared very quickly. Not because of the models (most I considered attractive, not that it’s relevant) but because once I got over the shock of being in the same room as a naked person!! it became evident that nudity on its own is not erotic. Most of our experiences with nudity are sexual, either with other people or in pornography, and so our thoughts of nakedness involve sexual poses and inviting looks and other erotic attributes. There’s just nothing inherently sexual about a naked woman (or man) in an artistic pose looking slightly bored. (This is also why Burqas are horrifically pervy – it’s sexualizing literally the entire female body)
I bring this up because nearly everyone who’s been in a long term relationship can attest that there’s nothing particularly erotic about seeing your partner sitting on the toilet. I don’t think there could be a less erotic pose (or a less erotic action). The sexual gratification this man got wasn’t in the image – I think it was purely in the violation; the experience of stealing from girls and women their “treasures”, their modesty that sexist Christian culture says they ought guard, which were not offered; and the feeling of superiority, of having preyed upon, “outsmarted”, and victimized these walking challenges without their even having noticed.
That’s my take on it.
Another creep who thought his position of authority gave him free rein to play out his fantasies. Is tarring and feathering still legal?

Zibble: If it were about nudity, the pastor would have been spotted at a strip club. Voyeurism, at least of the nonconsenting sort, is all about the idea of disregarding boundaries, and how the targets don’t know that someone is seeing things they’d rather be kept private.
Also, plenty of people get off on watching people do toilet-y things. It’s not at all uncommon.
