Okay, now do our freedoms come from god, like Freedom of the Press, of Assembly, of the right to Face One’s Accuser in a Court of Law? The essence of his argument is if we [a] have god in our society, we [b] have our freedoms.
1. If a, then b.
2. If b, then a.
3. If not a, then not b.
4. If not b, then not a.
For his statement to be true (#1), 4 must be true and 2 & 3 must be coincidence if true.
4. If we don’t have our freedoms, then we do not have god in our society.
* Not true – some people (e.g., convicted felons, people in other countries) do not have the same freedoms.
2. If we have our freedoms, then we have god in our society.
* Not true – We still have our freedoms; even Pat thinks god got evicted from our society by the atheist cabal.
3. If we don’t have god in our society, then we don’t have our freedoms.
* Not true – Some people do not believe in god. God is clearly not in parts of our society, yet those parts still enjoy the same freedoms as the rest.
4. If we don’t ave our freedoms, then god isn’t in our society.
* Again, Not true – the presence or absence of god has no affect on our freedoms.
And therefore, god didn’t exist until the formal founding of the USA.

Studies have shown that predominantly secular nations have a higher quality of life (as evidenced by lower crime rates, more equality, more scientific progress, better education, fewer social ills, etc.). But I guess to nitwits like Robertson that’s something to be avoided.
That would imply they could even think we could learn something by looking at other countries. The USA is always #1, and if anyone says otherwise, they are automatically wrong.
I seem to remember Glenn Beck beaming proudly about the World Health Organization listing the US as #37 in health care. He said he wished we were ranked even lower. If an evil secular international organization criticizes us, we must be doing something right.
Can I volunteer to be dictator of the inevitable atheist dictatorship?

Maybe someone could tell him, that in Europe’s, struggles for freedom the churches (all of them) almost everytime were on the other side of the barricades. And they did not change their positions, they just lost some of their power to suppress freedom.

He’s not even slightly worried about an atheistic dictatorship. He is absolutely convinced that god has everything under control. The only reason he says stuff like that is to frighten the flock – it makes them easier to fleece.

There’s no “predominently atheist” nations in the world.
Even here, highly secular northern Europe where I live, we are predominantly christian. Allthough you dont have to hide your atheism like in the states.
Neither Britain nor France are predominantly atheist nations but they are very secular.
Unfortunately creationism and “christianism” are rising in the Europe allso. Everything USA has done France/Britain have done 10 years later. Everything France have done we, Finns have done 10 years later (except nuclear weapons) but thats basicly how memes move around the world.
