TV show update

I’m in the Dallas airport with Matt Dillahunty, who has been working tirelessly all week to get the ACA studio set up to broadcast the show this weekend. At this time it looks like broadcasts should continue on Ustream without a hitch. The alternate Channel Austin site will not stream the show this week, but if all goes well, we should be able to stream live on our YouTube channel now.

Since three of us are unavailable to host this week, we had to call in a special strike team, so I’m pleased to say that Non-Prophets host Jeff Dee will be in the host spot this Sunday, with Martin Wagner as cohost.

Calls are still up in the air. This may not work, but please try to Skype or Google hangout with the address atheist.experience@gmail.com. Add this contact early if you plan to connect.

Enjoy the show! Unless you’re in St Louis. If you are, come to Gateway to Reason and meet us instead!

    Thank you Matt and all the team for doing the hard yards to make this happen. You guys (and ladies) are truly awesome!

    Jeff Dee is doing a show? Well shucky ducky as the man would say! This is going to be great! And I always love seeing Martin. I’ve not watched the last show he did yet because I’m kinda sad about Kent Hovind getting out. I know it’s silly but in prison he couldn’t do any more damage. I’ll get around to watching it soon though.

    Thanks from me too! It’ll be cool to see Jeff on screen again, I miss him there even though I am a loyal listener to the Non-Prophets as well.

    Jeff Dee!!!!
    <3

    Even though I suspect he would have told me off quite unkindly many times for some of things I've done here, lol. That's what's fun about him. And he was a designer on D&D.

  5. Narf says

    Did Jeff have any input into the design of the AD&D system?  I thought he just did some of the artwork.

  6. EnlightenmentLiberal says

    AFAIK, art designer only. I’ll try to eschew my artist-hating instincts, and here I’ll claim that he deserves the title “designer” at much as the rule designers IHMO. Then again, that might have been needlessly misleading. Maybe I should have explicitly stated “art designer”.

    Your show was what led me to realize that my sudden aversion to religion meant I was on the right track. Until I found you guys and gals, I honestly thought there was something wrong with my intellect rejecting what everyone else accepts as correct. You helped put an end to my stressing and self-doubts. I hope your show continues being broadcast.

  8. Narf says

    No, he drew mostly black&white pictures.  Being an art designer or a graphic artist would mean that he did more layout work.  I don’t hate artists, so I have no problem with giving him an appropriate title.  😛

  9. Monocle Smile says

    LOL @EL. I guess I shouldn’t be all too shocked that a coder isn’t a fan of artists. I’m a musician on the side, so the only artists I hate are the ones who don’t really deserve that title (like people who develop shitty website design).

    “Artist” then?

  11. EnlightenmentLiberal says

    @Monocle Smile
    But seriously, I do respect artists in general. It’s just a joke, mostly. I’ve grown out of it. However, sometimes my mother, the professional artist and college degreed industrial designer, says things that I find to be questionable and annoying. But I fully appreciate the great work that industrial designers do, and the work of Jeff Dee.

  12. EnlightenmentLiberal says

    And my call was super-short.
    Also, <3 Jeff so much for his discussion regarding kid-flash. I use very similar arguments myself. I would have went straight to the world of D&D because of jeff's background had he disagreed, but it appears he's already completely on board in the same position as me.

  13. favog says

    EL, you’re reminding me of a guy I knew in college. One day he says to me, “I have a confession to make to you; when I first met you I figured you had to be really stupid”, or words to that effect. I asked him why that was, and he told me it was because of my artwork. All the artist students he’d known in high school had been dummies in his estimation, and when he saw my work he thought I was much better than any of them, so I had to be even stupider than them. I laughed, and pointed out that if those he’d known prior really were so dumb, maybe that was why their art was no good. See also, Leonardo Da Vinci.

  14. EnlightenmentLiberal says

    @favog
    I was never that bad. In another context, I would have guessed that you were putting me on with a joke.

  15. Oz 3 says

    Was the show recorded, and will it be available as a podcast? It’s going to be great to hear Jeff on AE again!!

    Eh, he was still pulling plenty of strings from prison, and he had his little mini-me, Eric, running around saying everything that Kent would have said, if he hadn’t been in prison.

    If anything, it will be nice to have newer material to work with, in debunking Kent’s insanity.  It isn’t like Kent has actually learned anything and improved his arguments, in the past decade and-a-half.  Our side has improved drastically, since then, but the Christians have nothing new that they weren’t saying back in the 70’s and 80’s.

    @7 – Lotta Joy

    Until I found you guys and gals, I honestly thought there was something wrong with my intellect rejecting what everyone else accepts as correct. You helped put an end to my stressing and self-doubts.

    Heh, yeah, until you get some basic philosophy under your belt, it’s hard to put your finger on exactly what is wrong with all of the nonsense you’re being fed, even if you know there’s something wrong somewhere.  Even pop-philosophy is sufficient, since the nonstop bullshit that religious apologists fling is so flawed on such a basic level, at so many various points in their arguments.

  18. Narf says

    Oh, I just checked, myself.  Hmm, we’ll know when someone posts something somewhere.  If it didn’t go out live, maybe someone, somewhere else, got a recording of it, and they just haven’t processed it, yet.

  19. favog says

    @EL
    Even if you ever were that bad, like I say, I just found it funny at the time and ever since. You just reminded me of the incident, is all. Nothing against ya.

  20. Conversion Tube says

    Was that one caller not Blake Giunta disguised? About the third caller or so, near the beginning.

  21. Conversion Tube says

    Yes, the caller was Zephron or something like that. I’ll actually bring it up on the other thread since it is now posted.

  22. noexitlovenow says

    Watched #932 live streamed on You Tube. A few thoughts:
    1. There is a troll in the chat named Kenny Jarbs. I think if he were blocked from chat everyone would applaud.
    2. The show was unwatchable live streamed as it would stop and start. I think the issue was on your end.
    3. Martin Wagner should not tweet on the show. He should give his attention to doing a good show.
    4. I’d love to see things go back to a one and a half hour format.
    thanks,
    noexitlovenow
    P.S. Love you guys.
