We get email, oh yes we do!

This arrived in our inbox late last night:

Hellow,

I’m Augusta and I want to warn all deist and atheist about the coming event.. I’m sure you know the government is corrupt but they have turned on the people and will be doing crazy things. Arm yourselves and also get lots of food and head to Wyoming before September 1st.. I will meet you their.. Be alert..

So now you know. Looks like the anti-government conspiracy theorists are going to be busy this summer keeping an eye on Jade Helm 15 and stockpiling food and ammunition for their trip to Wyoming.

Oh, well – I guess it gives them something to do.

    I’m in the UK, would youd advise waiting until i get to Wyoming to stock up on food or should i bring it with me?

    This seems like a real threat!!

  2. DukeOfOmnium says

    Head to Wyoming — Devil’s Tower. And memorize a certain 5-tone melody. It also helps if you look like Richard Dreyfuss

  3. Henry shafer says

    If you understood the intent of germans rounding up the Jews,, would you be complacent,?
    When we try to reason through information, We need to consider the source first, then judge
    for ourselves. if we publicly mislead others through ignorance. the weight of that rests with us.

    I can clarify, if asked.

    Hide out in Wyoming? Bad location; Gubmint (TM) will be looking for any excuse to light up that honking big volcano up in the left corner.

  5. Monocle Smile says

    @Henry shafer

    …yeah, you’re going to have to explain that one, because it looks like a non sequitur.

    Why is it that the people who have this important super-secret knowledge have no idea about the spell check function on their computer? Or are they brave outsider rebels about everything, including the education system?

  7. Pianoman, Church of the Golden Retriever says

    can’t this wait, AC/DC is supposed to be in Toronto mid-september?

  8. Curt Cameron says

    Since the Supreme Court will (likely) issue their ruling on same-sex marriage in late June, summer looks to be the time when America crumbles, the second civil war begins, and churches will be forced to marry dogs and cats.

    FTFY: Why is it that the people who have this important super-secret knowledge have no idea about the spell check function on their there computer?

  10. StonedRanger says

    @Hippycow #11
    Jeanette had it correct.

    @Henry Shafer #3 Id like a clarification on that too. After the fact its pretty clear what hitler was doing with the jews. Having said that, there were too many people who knew what hitler was doing and they did nothing which goes beyond being complacent.

  11. Narf says

    @3 – Henry shafer & 6 – MS
    I’m with MS on this one, Henry. I have no idea what point you were trying to make. You said you could clarify. If you could go ahead and do that, it might help.

    @7 – jeanettecorlett-black

    Why is it that the people who have this important super-secret knowledge have no idea about the spell check function on their computer?

    It isn’t even as complicated as making use of some particular function on the computer, which you actively need to implement. Are there any browsers left which don’t have a built-in spell-check function automatically turned on, in any version released in the last 3 or 4 years? It’s just a matter of recognizing what the little wavy, red line is indicating, when you see your messages full of them.

    Of course this guy’s e-mail wouldn’t have been helped. I don’t see any misspellings in it, just a lot of grammar problems, horrible formatting, and an incomprehension of the usage of ‘there/their/they’re’.

    What was this guy even trying to say, though? I could see some of the more insane, conspiracy-theorist atheists going a bit bug-shit, if we get someone like Huckabee in the White House after the 2016 elections, but what does the guy think that Barack Hussein!!!!!!!1111111oneoneone Obama is going to do to deists and atheists?

  13. Narf says

    Browsers don’t tend to have that feature, though. The ones I use only have bare-bones spell-checking. You’d have to run it through a word processor or something to get grammar correction, and the grammar correction in those always sucks.

    If you understood the intent of germans rounding up the Jews,, would you be complacent,?

    You just Godwined yourself in the very first sentence, well played! I think humanity has a better grasp on, and a general aversion to, our irrational tendency toward xenophobia. But there are (and probably will always be) politicians looking to use it to their own advantage.

    When we try to reason through information, We need to consider the source first, then judge
    for ourselves.Well, that’s a rather simplified way of looking at baloney detection. The whole idea regarding “true things” is that the source shouldn’t matter (ever heard of a double blind study?).

    if we publicly mislead others through ignorance. the weight of that rests with us.

    Definitely! Like those who try to incite others publicly on blogs by making claims that Holocaust-level events are happening or just about to happen. Those people are the worst, amiright?

    I can clarify, if asked.

    You’ve been asked, but your silence is deafening. It’s almost like you’re not sure of your own ignorance and this is making me skeptical of using you as a source. Just sayin’.
