@Charly, strong pants are worth something to a live soldier, the dead don’t benefit from them. Stealing your slain enemy’s boots, clothes, jewellery, gold teeth etc is traditional.

I always hated that painting. Nobody’d go out in a situation like that, barefoot.
I cannot say I hate it, but I never understood why the dead guy front left has no pants on.
