The Art of Book Design: True Confessions

Fawcett Publications. True Confessions, August 1922.

The originator of yesterday’s pulp magazine, Wilber Hamilton Fawcett, went on to establish this well-known pulp magazine in 1922. It became wildly popular and survived well into modern times. It folded sometime in 2018, but specific information is difficult to find.

Huh, that is a very different association with the name Fawcett than I am used to, in the UK Millicent Garrett Fawcett was one of the prime campaigners for votes for women https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millicent_Fawcett The organisation she led is now named the Fawcett Society in commemoration of her, it still campaigns for women’s rights. One of her sisters, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson was the first British female doctor.

    Jazzlet,
Thanks to the link for Millicent Garrett Fawcett. She’s a very different sort of person than Wilber Fawcett, whose claim to fame is for publishing titillating and salacious stories, jokes and cartoons.
