Surrounded by Rocks: An Exploration Series, Chapter 10

It’s time for the next chapter in Nightjar’s series.

Chapter 10 – West Hill: A Tiny World, Part 1

I often amaze myself with the amount of time spent and number of photos taken without looking past a square meter of space. A love for macro photography tends to do that to people, I guess. Coming down the West Hill I noticed a patch of moss and lichen. It was a small patch, but with so many things going on. Enough to fill the last two chapters of this series. First, I was fascinated by tiny lichen.

What a delight, Nightjar. Your skills with macro photography are madly creative. I can’t wait for the last chapter. Thanks for sharing.

There be fairies. Tiny ones, with elaborate cultures that all revolve around moss and lichen. The next patch is a different fairy population and over time they have grown so much apart they need to use hand signs to communicate.

I can confirm that. I’d put it differently: photography makes you look at the world more closely.

Definitely fairies. My favourites are the second and the last, but they’re all beautiful tiny little worlds.

These words are so true. Turns out, there’s so much to see and you don’t even have to go anywhere! This is why, as much a fan of space exploration as I am, I’m also a big believer in exploring more of the world we already have.
