Surrounded by Rocks: An Exploration Series, Chapter 9

Nightjar has more rocks for us in the next chapter of her series.

Chapter 9 – West Hill: Quartz

There are quartzites and quartz veins on this hill, but this path isn’t the best to see quartz veins. Still it is easy to find bits of quartz here and there. Quartz hunting is always fun (although if you are like me it tends to mysteriously fill pockets).

Our journey isn’t over yet and coming down the hill I found a little ecosystem booming with life. I reserved the last two chapters of this series to explore a tiny world.

Thanks, Nightjar.

I’m pretty sure quartz has little retractable centipede legs, complete with climbing claws, because it always manages to get into my pockets, too.
    Lovely!

I’ve really enjoyed the rocks, Nightjar. Quartz ends up in my pockets, too. The second and third rocks might just have come home with me had I been there.

I’m glad you enjoyed the rocks, rq and voyager!
I’ve found that taking photos generally decreases the amount of rocks/minerals/fossils/seashells in my pockets, but quartz definitely finds a way, always. I too am pretty sure it can climb.
