This week we have an incredible tree from Down Under that’s full of big, bright, colourful flowers, courtesy of DavidinOz.
The first 3 are of a huge Bottle Brush tree, an Australian native that has been exported to other climes.Look closely in 2 & 3 and you will see bees had at work.
4 & 5 are of a different tree, but all the better to see why they are named …. Bottle Brush.

Those trees are incredibly beautiful, and somehow look really primitive as well as exotic. Now I’m wondering if they would live here, but I doubt they could stand the cold!
I’ve seen these before. Gorgeous plants they are.
They don’t look real to me, the pink bottle brushes are just so outside what the trees we get here do. They are beautiful though. I love the last photo with the sculpture in the background.
Lovely. There are few of these in the neighbourhood, I knew they were called bottle brushes but I didn’t know they were native to Australia. They are popular garden plants here, but unlike acacias they don’t behave invasively. At least that I’ve noticed.
Jazzlet, the flowers are amazing, no petals, just hepas of colured spikes that are similar in shape to pine needles, but soft.

Shows that flowers don’t need petals to be strikingly beautiful.
