A Great Pair of Tits

Or a pair of great tits? Well, both. Somehow this year we do not have many visitors to the feeder yet. Maybe it is due to the very warm weather, the birds have mostly no need for supplementary feeding yet. So it is just tits.

Maybe a great pair of great tits.

Are your tits related to the chickadee/titmouse/junko cousins that are the main customers at my feeder here in the northeastern US? They look pretty similar.

Lucky dinosaurs get to snack on walnuts! I’m jealous.

I love these birds. I once designed a T-shirt of a tit in flight, titled of course, “Great Tit”. Alas. I was trying to sell them in Utah, and I’m afraid it was too much for the Mormons.

I’m envious of your tits. My chickadees aren’t nearly so colourful. It’s a bit like watching TV in black and white.

Yea, sure, those are pretty good, but -- just have a look at “their” warblers sometime…

    Lovely pair!

This weekend I had a most unexpected visit to my garden, of a bird that is not native here and I knew it had established itself in a few places in Portugal, either due to escapees or illegal releases, but I had never seen them here. Red-billed leiothrix. And not just one, there were at least three of them. Sadly I couldn’t get to the camera in time, but maybe they will be back. They are so pretty and sing so beautifully, but technically they are becoming an invasive species, which isn’t good.
