Jack’s Walk

First Snow, ©voyager, all rights reserved

We woke up this morning to the first snow of the season and it was such a pretty sight. I love when the snow first falls and covers the dull browns and grays of the world with a crisp blanket of white. It gets so quiet and today even the sound of passing cars was muffled. We had a lovely, slow stroll around our neighbourhood and the falling snow was mesmerizing. It won’t last, though. Already it’s turned into rain (again!) and soon there won’t be a trace of it left.

What a beautiful sight, voyager, and the photo is perfect. Here it has been rain rain rain rain. But next week predictions are we will get a proper “St. Martin’s summer”, 20ºC and sunny weather. I can’t wait!

    Nightjar,
Sunny and warm sounds wonderful. I’d be excited too. When we get a warm spell in autumn it’s called Indian Summer.

We just got our first dusting of snow here over a two day period. about the same amount as in your beautiful photo, Just enough to get the roads slick, and make drivers remember their winter driving skills.
Then, this morning -34 C (-4 F), to really remind us of what winter can do here. With my good warm gloves home in Almont, I was hating life outside working.
Old Mister Winter is walking in fast.

Woke up yesterday to a dusting of snow like the photograph. Mostly gone now. The cold nights a few degrees below freezing seems to be causing the maples out front to finally drop their leaves.

@Rick: -34°C? Oh dear, my best wishes go out to you. I shiver from reading that. Take care!

Lovely photo but … *shudders and grabs a blanket*

    Wait, what, -34 already??
We’re still expecting our first snow, as it’s unseasonably warm, but considering the past couple of years, it might only arrive in January. I look forward to pretty white views like this one -- and also, must get the winter tires on the car.
