Another one from Barcelona. Parakeets are neozoons in many parts of Europe, including the Mediterranean, though interestingly, their number their is relatively low (3000 in Spain, 800 in Portugal) when compared to colder countries like the UK (35.000) and Germany (10.000). The Barcelona population makes one wonder about the accuracy of that count.

This is a picture that’s fun to look at. The colour space is calming but the parakeet looks slightly mischievous.
There is a bird in that green?
I did not know that there are feral parakeets in Germany.

There are indeed, mostly in the Rhine valley where the winters are mild. Ludwigshafen has quite a population, for example.
Cute, love that expression and shiny eye. I never saw any, I know there are a few populations here but as far as I know they concentrate in public gardens and parks in the big cities and I rarely visit those places.
Wild parakeets in Germany and the UK? Wow, I thought they were strictly a tropical bird. They do blend in well, though. Great photo, Giliell.
Thankfully, not here, yet. But I’m sure it won’t take long.

The parakeet population in the UK which is mostly in London is a result of escapes/releases, but is now self-sustaining.
