The birds are wonderful gardeners, and at first glance, there’s at least 6 arthropods posing in the photo. Beautiful, and the yellow is perfect summer yellow!

I’ve got a tub full of them. In need to take pics during the next days.
I didn’t plant them either. We have a small strip around the house filled with pebbles. Sunflower seeds lost there couldn’t be retrieved by the birds and they couldn’t grow there properly either, because it’s concrete underneath, so I planted them in one of those black construction tubs that accumulate when you do major renovations.

    That’s right. Blame the birds!

Lovely photo. I don’t believe I have seen any sunflowers in the neigbourhood this year. I will have to look more carefully.

On the other hand, a lot of gardeners seem to have milkweed which is encouraging.

Marcus, that at least can be ruled out with a reasonable degree of certainty, the flower is at the center of the garden, where nobody except family members has set a foot. But the bird feeder is close by.

An enemy, surreptitiously planting sunflowers? Hmm. Possibly not the effect they were looking for. :D
