Yeah, me too. I was a bit worried about how he’d handle it without Doll, but he did really well. He didn’t do any swimming, that required Doll’s presence, but he got in a lot of splooshing, splishing, and splashing. :)

When you’re happy being in water, you are. Jayne’s clearly enjoying it as did I today.

I also love the splashing water in the pictures.

    Thank you, everyone!

Giliell, oh that sounds like our Cachet. Cachet the Crocodile. She was half Collie & half Landseer Newfoundland, and she loved water, loved swimming. She’d go out deep, until you could only see the top half of her head. She went running out on thin ice once at Sweetbriar, I think, and we about flipped. Calling and calling and calling her back, it felt like forever until she came back, all sulking because we stopped her.

Cachet once ended up in a very fast current in the Missouri river, and was trying to swim against it; neither one of us wanted to go diving in because dangerous. Rick ran along the bank, calling her and whistling, I called too, and Cantemahto also joined in the noise, and we got her to swim with the current until it swept her up on the bank, about a mile or so from where she went it. Dogs who love water can give you a near heart attack sometimes.

Oh, Cachet adored food, but it came second place to water. One time, she found a perfectly good discarded steak, and ran right into the river to eat it. She was a bit odd.

Happy Jayne! Splashing and splashing are better than swimming.
Jack doesn’t swim either…too much work. His sister did, though. Our Lucy loved to swim in the ocean when there were waves. She’d battle the waves up and down until she was so far out that you could hardly see her. Then she’d turn around and body surf in. Again and again with complete joy. Bob stripped down more than once though to go get her she was so far out, but she always seemed to know her own limits. We did buy her a life jacket, though.

If ever there was a dog after my own heart, it would be Lucy. I did a lot of surfing and body surfing in SoCal, and having someone like Lucy with me would have been a complete delight!
