Are You Ready For Alt*Hero Crackdown?

Do you all remember Vox Day’s quest to “rescue” comics from the horrible, evil machinations of SJW thinking? If you don’t, it’s all here. Well, the comic is out:

Goodness me, lookit that stew of crackpot sciency stuff! I’ll just bet you’re all riveted now, right? Right?

Here’s the amazon link to the comic, if your tastes run to idiot. I do believe I’ll pass. Fascists are bad enough in reality, I don’t need them pretending to be entertainment, too.

ETA: Looking at that cover, it’s not awful, but those breasts! I’ll assume Vox Day is at least familiar with them, and they don’t work like that. They aren’t actual balloons.

So, granted, I’m just seeing this panel here, but… it seems… kinda… standard? For a comic? I dunno, I don’t read many comics. Crick-Watson raised an eyebrow, as did the specific mention of “in Europe”, but other than that, seems kinda boring.

That whole “slaves to the common good” thing, in absolutely no context, could even have been the beginning of a deconstruction of the superhero genre in a saner world.

So how bad does it get later on? :P

Ah, missed that link. That’s… hoo, that’s a world of special.

I still claim that it looks very bog-standard-comic-booky, except for the obvious deliberate choices (I know costumes for superheros can be absurd, but a leather x across the face to make a confederate flag? That’s all sorts of impractical). But yeah, those deliberate choices make it seem rather surreal.

The writing, argh, the writing. It hurts and that means a lot coming from an EFL teacher, believe me.

Oh, I do believe you! I’m no writer, and my skills in that regard are not stellar, but as a reader, I’m with you, it’s painful.

I’d yawn at this page were it not obvious from the earlier article (and the author) that the rest of the comic is going to be chock full of racism and sexism.

Still, it seems strange that superheroes are needed to crack down on immigration or that a right-wing FREEZE PEACHER would want to crack down on even left-wing expression …

…except that to the racist right immigration *is* Galactus and the only reason we call them FREEZE PEACHERs is that they were never for free expression. Their entire point has always been shutting down the expression of others, through trolling first, but other repressive tactics are fine with them if trolling doesn’t immediately work.

Nope, not ready for Alt★Hero Crackdown, now that you ask. I’ll have to pass, thanks.

I hate to judge a book by the cover, but the cover is creepy as hell.

I do not mind the floatation device tits, those are bog-standard comic book material AFAIK. But that lecherous grin in the backtround with that yellow hand holding the doll-like woman…. AAAARGH. Creepy.

And I agree with Gilliel, the nazi salute is not even trying to be subtle.

And the yellow hand is wrong. Looks more like Alien facehugger than human hand. Human fingers do not look like that.

The manly jaw of manly Manlyness has to be there to counter out the busty bubbly boobs of Male Imagination!

Charly sums it up nicely: Creepy. I totaly agree!

The guy’s back, neck, and shoulder muscles in the first panel are messed up too. It looks almost like they first drew him face-forward, then decided he should face the other direction and they turned only his head around out of laziness.

Now that I look, you’re spot on! Vox Day could use Charly’s anatomy lessons.
