The map above shows when women got the right to vote in each country around the world.

2018 marks the centenary of Women’s suffrage in the UK and even then only with several restrictions (had to be over the age of 30 and meet property qualifications).

    IIRC some regional political entities were even earlier than NZ, but they don’t count because they still aren’t independent today.

    Finland was the first currently-independent state to grant women both voting and political office rights (1906, effective 1907). These details may cause some misunderstandings if you discuss this issue with Finns.
