Just this last week, I’ve seen the first swallows flying around the low creek bridges they like to build their mud nests on. One of the surest signs of real spring here! Just 3 I’ve seen, soon there will be hundreds at each bridge. Beautiful, quick birds. May they eat all the Mosquitoes the creeks can hatch!
That is a beautiful picture of a male, staking his territory, sitting on a 3 conductor power line, supported by the weight bearing ground cable (not wire rope). Beautiful bright yellow, basket type mouth beneath the beak. Best to catch the flying bugs, and amplify his song.
