    Gorgeous. In these pictures one can see the contradictions of spring in a sunflower seed husk.

    There’s a great Latvian word, which is raibs, and it means something like spotted/motley/variegated -- patterned and with colour variations (either in contrast or in shades). I find the English words don’t quite capture the meaning, but this bird certainly does!
