Is that a hare or jackrabbit? The mountain hares (Lepus timidus) here do get white in the winter, European hares (Lepus europaeus) do not and neither do the fairly recently introduced European rabbits*.

    * = I’m not too happy that they’ve been introduced here, by abandoning pet rabbits, but they seem to be on the edge of survival due to the winters, also raptors, owls and foxes are apt at catching them. We’ll see if they’ll evolve.

There are lots of jackrabbits running around Saskatoon. I saw fresh prints in my area yesterday. But it’s been months since I’ve actually seen one.
