I love the color!
Now I can’t get the cartoon of the owl and the woodpecker out of my mind.
A wonderful angle, the bold red part between the legs and the tail is shown in all its glory.

Yep, a great spotted one.
It was a first time visit (as much as I can tell). It later even managed to get onto the seed ring, which was a funny sight, but unfortunately I was on the phone and couldn’t take pictures.
That is great camera work! What a beautiful dinosaur. We have had to take one of our feeders in at the moment because the spilled seed has attracted rats. I think they’re adorable, but the Mr. says they are too close to the house. Does anyone have a good suggestion to keep them at bay? I’m thinking trap and release, but do rats live in colonies and will I doom the poor things if I move them to the country? I don’t want to tear a family apart.

The one suggestion I’ve seen is to have something under the feeder and to clean that regularly.
I’ve worried about rats, but even though I pour food on the ground, the birds never leave any come nightfall.
