I like blackberries, but not picking them.
Bracken is one of those plants that can look like it is a lot of plants, but actually a whole hillside may be just one individual. It can be very long lived.
Life is tenacious.
jazzlet, that’s an interesting thought. This thicket of bracken is located in just one glade in the forest, where the soil is sandy and a little deeper than right at the top. Who knows how large this bracken patch was before the road tore right through its patch.

Bracken does indicate relatively sandy soil from what I gather .
